"I would like to leave behind a legacy or a think tank, a place for people to talk about freedom and liberty, and the de Tocqueville model, what de Tocqueville saw in America," Mr. Bush told Mr. Schieffer. "I would like for there to be a place where young scholars come and write and think and articulate and opine and teach."

1. As in: Wasn't it nice, children, that once upon a time...
we had freedom and liberty in America?

2. He did say "write," "think," and "teach"
Edited on Mon May-08-06 10:51 AM by long_green
but he didn't say "books" or "read" as a part of his library.
That's nitpicking, we are talking about a presidential library, but boy, how revealing of him to use the phrase "think tank."

4. In the meantime you have to do a Maxwell Smart
imitation to get to his papers, in fifty years or so, give or take a few decades after he bites the big one.
That is if we're still here, and the morloks have'nt drug us beneath the surface for their evening meal.

5. Something about proximity to books
makes him extra loopy. Remember how he spent his day at the Clinton Library, scoping out the Arkansas River for attack subs?

9. Maybe they can build him a wing
on Dick Nixon's library, a videogame room, or cocktail lounge, or something.

10. And...and...and...
That's not nitpicking. He's so limited that he can't string together a coherent sentence without sounding like a pre-schooler reciting what he did at Mom's Morning Out that day.

14. He actually said deTocqueville twice? He must have been practicing
it for a week and now that he thinks he has mastered it he is going to say it every chance he gets.

15. Why..."...to talk about freedom and liberty..."?
Because by the time it's built and up & running, talk will be the only connection we will have left.. People standing around talking about the "olden days" when we used to HAVE them..

the George W. Bush Think Tank is a completely hilarious concept.

i would be willing to opine & articulate there, but they wouldn't like what i have to say much.
