1. Ten bucks says this is the last press conference of Chimpy's tenure.
Virtual bucks, of course.

2. It's NOT on the CSPAN schedule. I'm guessing it's not gonna happen.
And may never again....

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/briefings/

It's still up, but no updates yet on the Snowjobbing.

4. No idea
I've been asking the same question.

Nothing at c-span.org, nothing at whitehouse.gov, and no help from fellow DU-ers.

Could this be the end of public press briefings?

5. There's another example of perception management.
Btw, there are numerous statements on various websites that Tony Snow posts/ed at Free Republic.

Anyone got anything about that assertion?

13. Perhaps a next-day reaction/response to Colbert's use of WH press video
Edited on Wed May-10-06 07:06 AM by tiptoe
clips in his scathing Press Secretary "audition video," April 29 at the White House Correspondents Dinner??

Apparently many of the White House adminstration in attendance at the event didn't take well to the in-your-face-"comedic performance" Colbert gave. Policy-makers may be opting not to make available -- at least for short while -- live video material for "comedians" like Colbert to exploit for future criticism of themselves and the WH Press Corps...especially after Colbert matter-of-factly announced McClellan's upcoming replacement, Tony Snow. "Secret Service name: Snow Job" (thereby labeling Snow in advance and what to expect from him).

As an invited speaker, Colbert was given penetration of the "protective Bush bubble." He exploited the unique opportunity to the max ("...a true honor..."), pummeling both Bush and the White House Press Corps with satirical jabs, tiptoeing the edge of direct political, personal and moral criticism...smack in their faces...including dishing back at Justice Scalia some of the latter's own recent crude offerings. ("Justice Scalia is here. Welcome, sir. May I be the first to say, you look fantastic. How are you? [After each sentence, Colbert makes a hand gesture, an allusion to Scalia's recent use of an obscene Sicilian hand gesture in speaking to a reporter about Scalia's critics. Scalia is seen laughing hysterically.] Just talking some Sicilian with my paisan." From transcript)

Bravo, Stephen Colbert.

14. I had hoped it would have been on Monday
but according to this WaPo bit, we're getting our first gaggle on Friday and the full Press conference on Monday:

"...Snow is expected to give an informal briefing _ known as a gaggle _ on Friday and hold his first televised briefing next Monday."
