Prediction: Bush will be at 29% approval Memorial Day wkend
I know there's a lot going on right now with Rove, resignations, sexual escapades, continuing problems in Iraq, etc. But one thing, and one thing only, will probably sway the approval ratings even lower - the cost of gasoline. Could gas be up to the $4 dollar range (talking national average) come Memorial Day weekend? Even if it doesn't quite get that high, any big jump will not help the Boy King.

I say under 30% around or immediately after Memorial Day weekend. What do ya'll think?

1. I agree, it depends on gas prices...
So if the gas is high enough then, by all means.

2. I'm not sure how much lower he can go. 20s would be devastating.

12. I truly believe...
that even now they are lower in the 20s or teens instead of 31%...won't surprise me since the "Librul Media" won't report it as so...but he has to be in the low 20s..

9. I think the "summer driving season" demand is only urban legend
People are already reducing discretionary driving. That will deal with the summer surge. My two cents

11. Truth be told, I'm pretty stunned by his numbers
Given the strength of his cult of personality and the former intensity of his support - in 2004 he was more popular with Republicans than Reagan - I was sure that just below 40% was his floor; perhaps 36% at the lowest.

He is completely surpassing my greatest expectations. He is an overachiever at underachieving.

15. I dunno, I think the hardline backwashers
are about 30%, and I don't think you could change those people's "minds" if they personally, with their own eyes, saw their god-anointed Chimperor eating aborted fetuses with a silver spoon.

We just have to accept that 30-35% of people will never ever change their minds, and trying to argue with them using facts is a waste of oxygen. Once you ID a backwasher, the best you can do is stay the hell away from them.

16. Depends on the pollsters - will they allow it?
I suspect the backwash is much much lower these days - in fact today's official numbers are probably W's real numbers throughout. They just allow a bit of adjustment for reality (which we know, has a liberal bias)
