Anyone care to see how NPR has handled Colbert's performance

I am a liberal and I love my local npr station, www.wamc.org . I think that they are Fair and balanced. They have a show called Media Matters. Today, Colbert's performance at the White House Press Dinner was discussed. They had an interesting conversation and I think that it is worthy of a listen. For complete disclosure, I did watch Colbert's performance. I didn't think that it was lol hilarious, but I did think that it was independent and well crafted. I shouted, "Oh My FUCKING God!" more then I laughed. I thought it was disrespectful and great.

I did hear the NPR show (I think it's called "On the Media", not "Media Matters", which is David Brock's website) and I thought they were trying their best to be balanced, but I also think they went overboard to represent only the side that thought Colbert's speech wasn't funny. If you watch his show regularly, you'll find that much of his humor isn't the "laugh out loud" kind of schtick -- mostly because he's usually right on the money about the issue he's trying to make fun of. And he knows it.

I suppose that in different times, with a different administration, we might find his humor laugh-out-loud funny all the time. I think that the reality of the current political situation is so out of whack that many times the truth hurts more than it makes us laugh.

But the national news has a center to right bias.
