New SIbel Article. Sibel says "this one nails it 100%"
Philip Giraldi from Cannistraro Associates has a column in the April 24 (print) edition of The American Conservative magazine about the story surrounding Sibel Edmonds.

According to Sibel, (no link, via email), this is "a fantastic short piece by Phil Giraldi; it sums up the case very well, considering the length... as far as published articles go, this one nails it 100%"

I've liberated the article from print

5. Turkey, Turkey, what was it about Turkey I remember?
Ah, yes, Dennis Hastert, Speaker of The House!

Here we are:
http://www.antiwar.com/blog/comments.php?id=P2286_0_1_0

Corruption in high places was alleged in a recent Vanity Fair article that surveyed government whistleblowers, including Edmonds, and unnamed congressional sources. The most sensational one was that House Speaker Dennis Hastert was paid up to $500,000 five years ago by the Turkish lobby to derail a bill that would have recognized the Armenian genocide carried out in the dying days of the Ottoman Empire.

"...In July 2000, the Turkish government chose Bell Helicopter Textron’s AH-1Z KingCobra over the other four finalists: Boeing, Kamov Helicopter (Russian-Israeli consortium), Agusta, (Italy), and the Europcopter (Franco-German). But to maintain pressure to receive a U.S. export license and the best possible contract terms, Turkey is keeping the Russian-Israeli model in the competition until the deal is signed, sealed, and delivered. At issue is the amount of local production and technology transfer that Turkey will receive. Ankara has plans to become an independent producer of attack helicopters, just as it used to manufacture and export F-16s under license in the 1980's and 1990's. Anxious to seal this lucrative deal, Bell Textron may be willing to give away the store, including not just a license to produce the exterior of the aircraft, but access to the technology needed to build, alter and improve upon the software operating the gunships' high-tech instruments. While the loss of jobs to overseas production is deemed an unavoidable cost of doing weapons business today, the U.S. government has refused in the past to allow the transfer of software "source codes" and other sensitive technology for reasons of national security.

A massive corporation active in a variety of industries, Textron is also a top-tier "Golden Horn" donor to the American-Turkish Council, the lobbying giant that has repeatedly come up in the Sibel Edmonds case. The ATC figures prominently in the Vanity Fair article which mentions Hastert and other unnamed officials in the pay of the Turkish lobby.

8. It ticks me off that we don't have a viable third party
That's the main reason I'm here. But DA-YUM, reading stuff like this day after day for three years and seeing NO ONE in the Democratic party take any interest is depressing. It's like trying to shake life into a rag doll. I'm seriously beginning to rethink my decision to stick with the Dems.

16. And why is it the Dems apparently have little interest in following up on
Sibel's claims or championing her cause?

On one level, her story appears straightforward: several Turkish lobbying groups allegedly bribed congressmen to support policies favourable to Ankara. But beyond that, the Edmonds revelations become more serpentine and appear to involve AIPAC (emphasis mine /jc)

Assuming the above statement is accurate, no further explanation is necessary.

17. That'll only happen if the true extent of
the craven whorishness to moneyed interests and corporate power of the mainstream Dems finally sinks in to the consciousness of the electorate.

So, it should really come as no surprise that Murdoch is now emerging as a prominent backer of the Democratic US Senator from New York, Hillary Clinton. The Financial Times of London reported Tuesday that Murdoch will personally host a July fundraiser for Mrs. Clinton on behalf of his News Corp.

CBS News reported on the upcoming fundraiser with the provocative headline “Rupert Murdoch Loves Hillary Clinton.” It stated, “The mating ritual of the unlikely allies has been under way for months.”

SNIP

As the Washington Post reported: “Clinton spent an hour at Cafe Milano schmoozing with News Corp. Chairman Rupert Murdoch (very chummy since last year’s truce), Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes, and most of the Bush administration, including Karl Rove, Josh Bolten, Karen Hughes, Dan Bartlett and former Fox host Tony Snow, just hours after he was named the new Bush spokesman.”

SNIP

In the midst of the Republican impeachment drive over the Monica Lewinsky affair, Hillary Clinton accurately described the forces mobilized to oust her husband from the White House as a “vast right-wing conspiracy.” Fox News, and many of those whom Murdoch has assembled to craft its ideological line as well as that of his other media outlets—the New York Post and the Weekly Standard, for example—played a prominent role in this conspiracy.

Mrs. Clinton has long since distanced herself from the bluntly accurate description of these forces that she offered eight years ago. The fact is that those who hatched the conspiracy now have a grip on all the essential levers of power in Washington, and Hillary Clinton is collaborating closely with them.

The idea that by electing Democrats Americans are going to turn around the right-wing, coporately funded movement to turn the US of A into a dictatorial, fascist State looks more and more like a pipe dream every day.
