My 11 year old gets it.
Listening to NPR in the car last night, they're going over a laundry list of bombings, murders, decaptitations. I reach up and turn off the radio as its a bit too graphic and my son says,

"Pop, George Bush should have to go to prison for making these things happen."

There is hope my friends...there is hope.

1. The future is not doomed
There is always hope in the youth. As a young voter in the 18-25 age group, I see the power we have.

3. As long as you retain it into your adulthood

don't allow them to make you into a cynic! We were all hopeful and inspired as young people, I believe. The machine that has been set up consumes our dreams, our hopes, all our great plans, and shapes us into mere automatons doing their bidding day in and day out.

Be the master of your own destiny, get all the education that you can. I personally would pursue a career in academia if I had it to do again. But to each their own. But do look to a vocation to avoid the corporate stranglehold over your life.

2. Don't you wonder...
what if the kid of a RWer said that to his/her parents?

And yes, thanks to kids like yours, there is hope. It's for our kids that we're doing what we're doing. Thank you for keeping the hope alive.

6. My 11 year old boy too!
I was explaning to him that it is precisely because I am a Christian that I am a Democrat. I told him of my strong beliefs in the beatitudes and the teachings of Jesus and that I have thought all along that the Iraq war was wrong. He paused and said "Mommy, what is the first of the 10 commandments...thou shall not kill."

With that he had put it in its purest 11 yo wise form.

7. my 8 year old does also! he says bush should be put in prison
with a room full of skunks.

this led to a long discussion about animal cruelty, obviously (to the skunks - not bush!)

12. Our 5 and 7 Year Old Nieces
Ironic...daddy was once a "rock ribbed" Conservative...we got him to see the light in 2000 and he, in turn, got most of his family to go from red to purple to blue. Now his father vows not to vote for another Repugnican until "all these crooks are behind bars".

Last month their little girls overheard us doing are usual bitching about this regime and starting to sing "George boooosh is falling down" to the tune of London Bridges and then serenaded us with "booshie is a liar". Seems like everyone I see these days, including "lifelong Repugnicans" snicker or gfaw every time this asshat's name is mentioned now. What a shame and disgrace this is to what was once the most important person in the world.

15. It's probably all the corporate endorsements that have him confused.
I've always maintained that politicians and elected officials should wear outfits like the NASCAR drivers with all their sponsor's patches attached so that we know their allegiances up front.
