If Mother Theresa had put a band-aid on a republican |
|
Would rabid DUers vilify her?
Would she become the spawn of satan?
Does anyone else see why democrats find it difficult to be unified enough to fight the bad guys?

Actually she did have some flaws. But I still don't want Paris Hilton portraying her in a movie(did you hear about that??).

Tens of millions of dollars banked around the world from contributions but wouldn't spend any money even on palliative care for the dying in her charge? Would tell them when they'd scream in pain that it was 'Jesus kissing you'.

She was an evil, hypocritical wretch - denying basic medical care to her charges while she herself received the finest medical care in the world. I hope there is a hell for those such as her.

Did you know Mother Theresa has already been targeted by DUers?? Or are you smacking yourself in disbelief now that you see she's a controversial figure too.

5. I know Gandhi has been attacked, I thought Mother Theresa |
|
was a safe example to make the point. I guess I'll pack it in. We seem to have so many people here who are so honorable and free from sin that others simply cannot meet their standards of purity. I'm really to the point of saying "screw it", there really is no hope to form an opposition to the neo-fascist party.

7. That's a bogus criticism to make--that "people who are so free from sin |
|
that others can't meet their standards" sentence. Why don't you address the substance of what people are saying about the woman? You know, have a real discussion on the substance? Meet people's specific criticisms with counter-arguments?
I have no opinion about her, as I don't know the stories about the money & the health care thing. But I was moved to respond to your content-free ad hominem. DU is a great place to learn all sides of a question. Why don't you use your post to tell us why the criticisms of Mother Theresa are off the mark?

How does a person try to explain the Catholic faith and the doctrine of suffering to people who believe God is a flying spaghetti monster?

And--I 'd like to let you down gently on this--the flying spaghetti monster is not a serious expression of religion faith.

Do you think this has anything to do with Mother Theresa??? OK, you do. It doesn't. Its about the immediate diefication of a person one day and their vilification the next day. Howard Dean, for example. The poin of this is to point out that we, as liberals-progressives-democrats, will continue to sufrfer if we eat our own at every point we disagree with something oneo of us does.

14. Oh, silly me. I saw you mention Mother Theresa & thought your post was |
|
about her. My observation stands. Perhaps if you stopped couching your opinions in hyperbole (immediate deification one day/vilification the next), and over-generalization (we as liberals-progressives-democrats), a reader might be able to see what your "poin" is.

Find one post of mine that damns Hillary Clinton. You won't be able to do it. I don't think I've posted *anything* about Hillary Clinton. It galls me, though, to see that self-aggrandizing ghoul used a paragon of virtue when in fact she caused a great deal of suffering (Agnes Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, not Clinton).

what's been said. MT really *did* let people suffer horribly while boatloads of money sat unspent. Of course she was a zealot so such behavior is not really shocking. But she wasn't the great reliever of suffering so much as she would provide a place for the suffering to happen.
You seem irritated that this particular golden calf isn't as shiny as you'd like. It ain't the fault of those who know the facts of the matter and are sharing them in this thread.
