Rape's very popular with the entertainment news channels right now.

And it's been a while since the last shark attack.

4. I think a 34-year old woman raping a 13-year old boy is terrible
however, the folks that think this incident is underreported or common have issues or an agenda that rational people can't possibly understand.

in order to downplay how often women are raped have serious issues, as I tried to express above.

Or is it just as long as they aren't obviously Republican - they get by?

It's hard to know.

There is the hustlingtheleft.com which does make clear that a lot of "leftists" don't see the connection between rape, porn, entitlement and war, etc.

Like Stan Goff, Robert Jensen, and most feminists do.

by victims pointing out victimization accused of victimhood playing the blame game with a victim mentality, see?

The bullies HATE that. They feel victimized.

17. There are more jellyfish
because they survive where other things are dying off.

A group of jellyfish is often called a "smack." Many species of jellyfish are also capable of congregating into large swarms or "blooms" consisting of hundreds or even thousands of individuals. The formation of these blooms is a complex process that depends on ocean currents, nutrients, temperature and oxygen content. Jellyfish will sometimes mass breed during blooms, thereby causing large booms in jellyfish population and reportedly raising major ecological concern for a possible jellyfish outbreak.

According to Claudia Mills of the University of Washington, the frequency of these blooms may be attributed to mankind's impact on marine life; she says that the breeding jellyfish may merely be taking the place of already overfished creatures. Jellyfish researcher Marsh Youngbluth further clarifies that "jellyfish feed on the same kinds of prey as adult and young fishes, so if fish are removed from the equation, jellyfish are likely to move in."

Increased nutrient in the water, ascribed to agricultural runoff, has also been cited as an antecedent to the recent proliferation of jellyfish numbers: scientist Monty Graham says, "ecosystems in which there are high levels of nutrient ... provide nourishment for the small organisms on which jellyfish feed. In waters where there is eutrophication, low oxygen levels often result, favoring jellyfish as they thrive in less oxygen-rich water than fish can tolerate. The fact that jellyfish are increasing is a symptom of something happening in the ecosystem."

Areas already majorly affected by jellyfish blooms include the northern Gulf of Mexico, where "moon jellies have formed a kind of gelatinous net that stretches from end to end across the gulf," and the Adriatic Sea.

6. It's disgusting that the MSM is using such a horrible phenomenon
to get ratings...however, maybe with the increased media spotlight on rape, more people will become educated about it, how to protect yourself from it, how to deter it, etc.

Then again, maybe not.

8. So you got a whole list there.
So what? They're all "false accusations." Every single one of them. Obviously you haven't been paying attention to the rape threads here on DU. All your list does is prove that there are many many many "false accusations" made every day. End of story.

:sarcasm: I can't believe I actually have to use that tag.

22. You forgot the broomstick!
The "alleged victim" no doubt brought it with her and used on herself just for kicks. And I notice that you conveniently forgot to mention that if there were any rape drugs in her system, she ingested them willingly. Stripper = druggie = whore and everyone knows you can't rape a whore.

I feel so bad for anyone that has to go up against the "alleged victim" in this case because the cards are already stacked against him. I mean, when stats of reported rapes show that there is a 16.3% chance he will serve prison time good gawd, who would want to be up against those odds? And if you add in unreported rapes, there's a 5% chance the accused will do time. With stats like that, can you blame those that are accused when feel they have been wronged because they might have to actually pay for what they have done? Hell no!! Their rapist friends walked so they should be entitled to the exact same treatment. Goddamn. I don't see why it's so hard for some people here to grasp that concept.

34. You are most welcome.
I have seen various pages on stats but the one I linked is probably one of the better ones IMHO. They did a nice job of summarizing everything in a way that makes it easy to get the whole picture. It's clear, concise, and downright scary. I haven't thoroughly vetted the stats themselves but others have done comparisons and it seems that the stats there are in agreement with those found on other sites. Feel free to pass the link around. Unfortunately, it has come in all too handy as of late. Sigh.

25. We all KNOW rape is not a problem in "todays world"
It's the huge numbers of men falsely accused.

Mu life is full of unusual circumstances and people; I know several women that, at some point in their lives, have been raped/ sexually abused and I don't know a single person that has been falsely accused.

31. Right on LIV.
The title of this thread is very misleading. It should really read "Today's sex stories..." because we all know that rape is just sex. After all, it was consensual for ONE of the people involved and it's complete BS that they BOTH have to consent. One person enjoyed it so that means it was sex.

:sarcasm: <- I REALLY can't believe I have to add that tag but I do.
