do they have sirens in DC?

If you have basements, go there. Otherwise, stay away from outside walls and windows. Getting inside a tub - really - is the best place to hide. Covering yourself with a mattress is even better.

If there are thunderstorm, please don't use your land phone.

Hurricanes, however, are unusual. So are blizzards. We got both in 2K3.
