America is America no more.
The lack of outcry over the phone data mining proves that this is no longer a country of laws or order or justice. The administration thumbs its nose at the Constitution on a daily basis. Our Constitution and the protections it afforded us (once) as citizens was the sole thing that set us apart from other nations in the world. Our government used to be accountable to the Constitution and its principles. Now the courts, the Congress, the administration, the press, and most citizens simply thumb their noses at it and have all handed over our nation to a group of elitest corporate thugs who really don't give a damn about our security, our future, or our freedom. The very fact that so much time and money could be spent on impeaching a President for oral sex in the Oval Office and virtually nothing mildly compared to it is happening with this treasonous dictatorship established by the Bushbots is all the proof one needs to know that our American dream is nothing more than a pending nightmare. Clinton they say, lied under oath. Hell, this administration won't even take an oath but they all lie daily to the American people at the cost of thousands of lives and billions of dollars. If Clinton lied about sex, no one lost their lives for it and he left this country debt free, feeling good about ourselves, and respected by the world. A tragedy like 9/11 should have pulled us all together and put us into the highest regard internationally. Instead we are showing ourselves to be the lowest of the low. And the frustration is that few seem to care and there seems to be no where to turn to force the accountability and punishment for the lawlessness and corruption that rules the day. What is next?

1. People are too busy worrying about their jobs, kids, gas prices....
Keep people focused on getting by, and they won't have time to protect their rights.

2. you're wrong
there's no use getting angry at 'america'...it is what it is. What we have here is a criminal regime despised by the majority of the people, but protected by the 'bush protection team' ie the pigmedia. If anyone's got a problem with what's going on, check out the newsmedia - they pretend that not only do they tell us what we think, but they tell us what we THINK we THINK we think we think we THINK!
the pigmedia is a sitting duck, you can throw paint on it using busfare, so please stop attacking something (the USA) that would smash you like a bug...especially as meanwhile the pigmedia shits all over the country. THe newsmedia (which protects bush) is ted bundy, and his address is in the book

13. That was my thought as well.
Columbus, slavery, imperialism, union busting, racism and sexism, more imperialism, lying our way into one war or another - America was only America if you were a rich white male.

7. You have so well crystalized my thoughts! It is so frustrating. I
imagine that B* has probably not even read The Federalist Papers, which was written by very enlightened and well educated (white men of of property, of course) individuals who had studied history, and knew of the potential abuses of power. They read of the current and great classical works, including Thucydides, Plato, Aristotle, Machiavelli, Hobbes, Locke, Montesquieu, and Rousseau, and brilliantly distilled their collective wisdom for a new form of Government. I was so moved when Feingold quoted from Federalist Paper #51, on the separation of powers:

"But the great security against a gradual concentration of the several powers in the same department, consists in giving to those who administer in each department the necessary constitutional means and personal motives to resist encroachments of the other....It may be a reflection on human nature that such devices should be necessary to control the abuses of government. But what is government itself but the greatest of all reflections on human nature? If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a constitution which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself."

B* could not possibly understand the truth, wisdom and beauty of this passage. Feingold gets it.

12. They Had Control over A Lot of Media
Edited on Thu May-11-06 11:34 PM by AuntiBush
Now that signs of truth are finally coming-out on (at times) MSNBC and (at times) CNN, not enough people are hearing, nor watching.

The Whisper Campaign worked well for them on the streets, too. People are too busy getting kids to school, driving miles and miles to work, only to have to pick up the kiddies all over again after work and grocery shop, etc.

Yet, no one forgets 1 lie by Clinton in which no one died. Most like myself, had no idea the media sold out to the GOP neo-cons back then.

I haven't recognized my country since November of the year 2000 either.

Edited for typo-errors from steaming anger over server-spying news.
