Politically, today has been like a bad acid trip.
More spying, more tax cuts for the wealthy, more evidence of plans to stomp on Iran, more in-your-face arrogance from the emperor. How can this possibly be happening? It's all starting to feel so freaking surreal.
Could somebody please talk me down? :scared:

23. Today, I got the sense that we're very close to what Zappa predicted.
"The illusion of freedom (in America) will continue as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater." -1977

10. This is what we knew, what we feared, what we expected would happen
Edited on Thu May-11-06 09:08 PM by mcscajun
when Bush was selected in 2000. When 2004 rolled around, and we woke up on November 3rd to find him still in occupancy of our WH, we projected doom and gloom ahead.

Now it's here. We were right. That doesn't make it any easier to take.

Find your happy place. Remember that love still exists, puppies are still cute, sunrises and sunsets are free, and we create our own joy. He cannot change these things. Externals may crumble, yet what is internal is eternal.

Breathe deeply, and contemplate these things. Have a good night's sleep, and get ready for tomorrow.

11. Unfortunately, sometimes things need to get worse before they get better
Edited on Thu May-11-06 09:18 PM by debbierlus

Human beings are like that. They avoid dealing with difficult realities until a crisis makes it impossible to ignore them any longer. The building of the corporate empire that pulls Bush's strings created this moment. Americans ignored the warnings at their peril. And, now we reap the consequences.

It has to break. It has to all fall away for people to understand that the America they believe they exist in is a illusion.

But, when THIS happens....then, REAL change can come. It is frightening because never before has man been capable of destroying the entire race. Hopefully, we will survive this...

All we have is today.

12. We all feel your pain, butr it's going to have to get worse before
things get better, because not enough people have woken up yet.

With that in mind, realize the quicker things go to shit right now the better. Let's get to the bottom quickly so we can take our once beautiful, proud nation back again.

16. Got weed? Smoke some. Force yourself to have a bite to eat.
Get your blood sugar up. Step outside, but don't stray far from the front door. Breathe deeply for a minute or so. Feel the night wind in your hair. RELAX. Head back inside and brew up some herbal tea. DO NOT TURN ON THE TELEVISION. Put on some music. Paul Desmond would be perfect if you're a jazz fan. If not, try something instrumental in whatever genre you prefer.

Smoke some more weed. Chill. Ease down. You're getting sleepy. Go with it. Turn off your mind, relax and float downstream.

Sleep in late tomorrow. Treat yourself to a good breakfast but be careful of your stomach; it's been through a lot.

Know that you are a child of God. Know that all flesh is grass. Know that love is within you and without you.

When you're ready, approach the news again, emboldened and optimistic, but not eager, not possessive.

There now.

The Bush Reich is going down, down, down. And when its final whimper echoes from sea to shining sea, we're going to have the biggest, baddest psychedelic tribal freak-out love-fest the land of Lincoln, P.T. Barnum and Wavy Gravy has ever seen. And we want you to be there!

Peace.

President Jimmy Carter: Peter, what did the acid look like?

Peter (on phone): They were these little orange pills.

President Jimmy Carter: Were they barrel shaped?

Peter (on phone): Uh.. yes.

President Jimmy Carter: Okay, right, you did some orange sunshine, Peter.

President Jimmy Carter: Just remember you're a living organism on this planet, and you're very safe. You've just taken a heavy drug. Relax, stay inside and listen to some music, Okay? Do you have any Allman Brothers?

WE being the people, the Congress, the courts, and the media . . .

until WE stop them, THEY will continue to do whatever the hell they want . . . whenever they want . . . and to whomever they want . . .

all while laughing uproariously, spitting in our faces, and lining their already bulging pockets with OUR hard-earned money . . .
