Who will strike while the iron is hot?
Hello, Dem Senators? Is this thing on? Hello?
(cue creepy haunted house music)
Where the frick are our senators? The witch is on the ropes, and these yahoos are spending none of their political capital.

I am reminded of my thoughts surrounding Katrina: I thought, why the heck doesn't Hill charter a bus and head down to NOLA if she wants to be Prez so bad? Make a big show of trying to help rather than acting business-as-usual while people are dying? But no. She and all the rest keep trying to play by the pukes rules. We do a decent job of criticizing, but I believe if someone had headed down there and tried to help, they would have really seized the political day.

Now is a time for action. Now is a time for D sens and reps to take over. * is struggling, mightily. If one of the D wannabes would head to the WH and start a protest, demanding his resignation, demanding he fire Rumsfeld, demanding we pull out of Iraq, whatever, he could not stand against it. Does any Dem politician care enough to start some crap with an incredibly weakened, lying, scumbag Prez?

I repeat: if some Dem politician decides to head to Washington right now, and start demanding * resign, it is on. This country is almost at redline, and something needs to be done, and done soon. The power of the people is there to be mobilized, and just waiting for someone to strike. DeFazio? Sanders? Frank? Obama? Clinton? Kennedy? Edwards? Warner? Gore? Kerry? Anybody home?

1. Gore.
He helped during Katrina (10X more than the shrub did)
He's been speaking out, and speaking out LOUD.
He's a movie star now :)

AL FOR PRESIDENT! (again)

2. I'm with ya
I'd love to see him force the confrontation. It would be so perfectly cyclical, and he is probably my favorite of the possibles for 08 anyway. Probably. Don't hold me to it, but if he pushes * right now, he can certainly gain some momentum with me.

3. Gore is preaching to the choir
No one else is listening. They should be, but they're not.

4. I am actively suggesting that one of these guys, and I'd love it if
it was Gore, start a real protest. Get down there and demand * resign, or apologize, or freaking something. Just bring the scumbag to heel. I mean, how low can he go before we tell him to take a hike?

That will not in any sense be preaching to the choir.

6. I just said this to my brother today...
I said, "How is it that I am tossing papers in the air, throwing pencils at the wall mad, and I see no Senators, no Reps doing the same thing? I would cry tears of joy if one of our Reps goes bonkers and starts tossing shit around the place swearing and screaming as loud as I am!"

Sometimes a little emotion and theatrics can mean a lot. I have talked to so many people that are so pissed off angry. This is the perfect time for the Democratic party to show it is too!!

7. It's being done
Why aren't WE there demanding it ourselves? Every day until they're gone.

A host of Dems have called for Rumsfeld to be fired and for us to get out of Iraq. Edwards and Kerry have both been to New Orleans, Kerry was just there a few days ago. The leaders are leading, the people aren't following, they're just sitting around and BITCHING.

John Kerry has been calling for the people to rise up, and called for it again today.
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/5/11/131958/592

"We've got a government run by people who hold themselves above the law -- in the way they not only treat prisoners in Abu Ghraib, but assert unchecked power to spy on American citizens...

"What else? Oh, yes, today we learn the NSA isn't just listening to international calls but is collecting the phone call records of tens of millions of Americans who aren't suspected of wrong-doing. How many times will government secrecy shield decision-makers from any kind of accountability?

Enough is enough. Yes, Congress needs to end the days of roll-over and rubber stamp before General Hayden becomes Director Hayden and proves Chairman Hoekstra right by doing the job wrong.

But something far more fundamental is out of whack in Washington. Every day we learn something new about this Administration's attitude - and too many people greet each story with a yawn as we learn that President Bush has announced he can disobey more than 750 laws enacted on his watch. Since when do we accept that any President has the power to set aside statutes passed by Congress when it conflicts with his interpretation of the Constitution?"

"Third – someone asked earlier about this: I already support the censure motion.

Fourth – I’ve introduced a resolution to get our combat troops out of Iraq by December 31. I’m not going to let go of it either. I’m working it with my colleagues."

What was he met with? "Shut Up John Kerry."

Do you know my own beloved DeFazio voted for the Sensenbrenner bill? I don't know what the hell he was thinking about, but I'd never tell the man to shut up because he's right 95% of the time. People need to stop with this negativity and annointed leader bullshit and just follow the ones who are leading.
