Tow truck driver in ultra-red county sez- |
in a low whisper to my friend the other day, "I know this is a big-time Republican county, but you'd have to be a damned fool to support Bush any more."

2. I found myself doing that the other day. |
While going off on one of my anti-shrub rants to my wife while we were taking a walk, I noticed my voice got very low, and I started to look around to see if I was being watched.
Fucked up isn't it?

4. That's what living under fascism makes you do. You become |
paranoid - and with reason. For fascism to really be effective, it relies upon the fear of the citizen - its primary tool. I feel the same way as you, I find myself taking care of how I talk, where, and how loud, etc. But that is what the Fascists depend upon to make their control work. I guess we have to resolve ourselves to sucking it up and looking for confrontations. We have to be prepared to fight everyday - and not just verbally, but physically. I live in the reddest of red states and in a terribly red part of this red state; and I have to steel myself to not be intimidated any more. I have to stand up and if things get violent, well, maybe this is worth actually fighting for, eh?
