3. Here is the wording of their poll:
It’s been reported that the National Security Agency has been collecting the phone records of millions of Americans. It then analyzes calling patterns in an effort to identify possible terrorism suspects, without listening to or recording the conversations. Would you consider this an acceptable or unacceptable way for the federal government to investigate terrorism? Do you feel that way strongly or somewhat?

6. How many would you have sampled to get a 4.5 point margin of error?

8. A sampling of only 500 carries NO credibility, imo
One has to wonder, as well, why they used a little known polling company rather than a more mainstream one. Oh, and yeah, the question is phrased so that it is, in effect, a push poll. Pure garbage.

11. How many should they have sampled?
And what would the margin of error be?

14. To get a true sampling, they need to poll at least 1000 which
would reduce the margin of error to around 3%. Polling 500 using the push poll questions is VERY suspect, imo.

13. Was it a phone poll?
Do you think people answered the way they thought the government wanted them to answer because they thought the government might be listening in?

Just askin'

17. 500 responses by phone, which can be adequate for polling
although you need a good sampling statistician on board.

The problem with the poll is the way it's reported suggests that people have no problem with the current revelation that NSA was listening to and analyzing content of phone calls, where the poll asks only about privacy concerns over NSA recording numbers dialed. That's a very different and more benign level of privacy invasion.

The poll is a stinker. There are six questions total. The first three ask about the importance of catching those darn terrorists and then asks the questions about letting NSA mine phone calling patterns. These respondents weren't pushed, they were shoved, and then the news analysts put words in their mouths.

22. Was the poll conducted over the phone?
Maybe people are afraid to say they aren't happy with their calls being monitored when they are TALKING ON THE PHONE?

Just saying.
