RESPONSE: "Well, *I* DO have things to hide." |
|
Edited on Fri May-12-06 12:56 PM by Dr Fate
And that is my right.
Where does it say that the govt. has the right to know about currently legal things that I am up to?
It is no one's business as to (currently) LEGAL things I do.
If I want to hide who I associate with and what I do on the weekends or in the evenings, that is my business.
I DO have things to hide, or at least things that are no one elses business.
This is my response to that idiotic talking point.

1. I don't particularly want strangers prying into my health care |
|
Nor do I want them guessing about how I spend my money, most of which is spent as cash (I'm old fashioned). I don't want them speculating on how I manage to avoid debt and where I surf on my computer. I don't want them prying into which charities I support and guessing the reasons why I chose them. I don't want them knowing a single thing they can interfere with at a later date simply because they disagree with my politics.
I don't trust them even when the information is limited to name, address and phone number. They can find out much more from that, things that can screw up an ordinary life being lived well within the confines of law and manners.

5. You have somthing to hide, but you are not doing anything wrong. |
|
As opposed to "If you are not doing anything wrong, then you have nothing to hide."
I call BS on that talking point- you can have things you want to hide while NOT doing anything illegal.
I'll state it again for the record- I have things I want to hide. SO WHAT?

3. The comparison I keep making is... |
|
I'm not doing anything wrong when I'm sitting in my house reading a book, but I don't want strangers coming up to the window and peeking through the curtains.

4. I WANT to hide what books I am reading from Republicans. |
|
I dont want them to know what books I am reading. My right.
If I did want to share what books I'm reading with Republicans, I would TELL THEM. It's called "freedom."
