Biden on Hayden (barf alert)
Biden on This Week w/George regarding Hayden: "He's a first class guy, a man of honor."

He's inclined to vote for confirmation unless he "stonewalls"...

I just want to scream. Why in the fuck aren't the Democrats just blasting away at this guy? Why aren't they screaming from the mountaintop about the gross illegality of what Hayden's NSA is doing???

4. Didn't Jeff Gannon challenge Joe Biden to talk about something
involving him a while ago? I wonder how well he knew Jeff Gannon. You may be right as far as Biden being compromised.

The only other reason why he would pushing to the confirmation of a man who doesn't even have a basic knowledge of the Constitution he will swear to protect is that Biden is not a Democrat. But then that thought has occurred to me before.

13. yes
Gannon intimated that he could blackmail Biden. I was screaming about the national security implications -- a male prostitute blackmailing the ranking member of the Senate Intelligence Committee.

The threat appears to have worked.

6. Oh, well if he's a first class guy
Then I'm honored to have him spying on me, violating my rights, and subverting the constitution, Mr. Biden! As long as he's not a low-down, sneaking rat bastard, because I really hate it when guys like that are breaking the law. But if Hayden's a man of honor breaking the law, then that's just peachy! Thanks for explaining that, Mr. Biden.

Joe, please get the hell out of the way, and let someone who cares about this country and its laws sit in your seat. Pretty please?

11. The small state syndrome - they keep electing the same four
people to the two Senate seats, the one house seat and the governorship.

They generally move from governor to house to Senate.

Biden has been a Senator since he was the legal minimum age of 30. However old he is now, that's how long he has been a senator. Small state syndrome works to keep as much power as Biden's longevity in the Senate gives him. So there is little motive to get someone else to take his seat. When he finally dies of old age, they will practically give that seat to Michael Castle, the representative in Congress. There's an election but it is totally predictable that he will get it. Doesn't even matter if they are Dem or Rep. They just flow in.

When Roth finally retired, former governor/representative Carper got the second senate seat and is likely to keep it until he dies of old age.

8. Yeah, made me want to puke too...
This is exactly why so many Democrats feel that the Democratic politicians in DC are just too weak for the job. Their only interest is in their barbers and tailors and how much money they can make.

And there are Democrats who suggest this asshole for President? Puh-leeze!

9. so much on this show is making me puke...
Next came Laura Bush, and then David Brooks crowing about how the DLC has somehow taken control of the Democratic party in funding, power blah blah blah. I'm glad that at least Donna Brazille smacked down THAT particular fantasy and emphasized how strong the progressive wing of the party is...that we are indeed the foundation of it.

12. Neecy, Donna Brazille is closely tied to the DLC. In 2004, I believe she
Edited on Sun May-14-06 10:34 AM by itzamirakul
was second in command of that organization with Al From as head guy. She may still hold that position...

From is staying out of public view since he found out how thoroughly the progressive end of our party despises him but I'll bet a dollar to a doughnut that he is still in the background pulling strings. Now his job is to have the DLC convince us that Hillary is the only "electable" candidate that we have for 2008.

After the 2004 election debacle, all of a sudden the DLC added the term "Progressive" to their publicity and to their Sunday morning political banter, because they are trying to scoop those of us who lean left into their so-called "centrist" basket by lying as they usually do. In reality, the DLC totally ignores the wishes of the Democrat's base.

A lot of Democratic politicians are in DLC's pocket, too and have gotten funding through this group...that is why they did not complain at any of the "swift-boating" or other lies that the GOP told in 2004 to defeat Kerry. The DLC was controlling whatever happened in the Party during that election.

The DLC is in business for one reason alone: to keep the Democrats OUT of the WH and OUT of DC. IMO, this is an organization funded by big business to protect their corporate interests and Ms. Brazille gets her paycheck from them.

10. I CERTAINLY Disagree With Biden, However My Question Is....
There are a number of Repukes who DO NOT support Hayden, what's behind this?? When he was first mentioned I thought it a little strange that they came out and opposed him so quickly. It's a question that's been rattling around in my brain and I thought I would give it some time, but there has been VERY little mention of this or the WHY.

Given everything that has been shoved at us, I no longer TRUST much of anything ANYONE is doing in D.C. these days. I'm almost to the point where I don't know who is WITH US or AGAINST us regarding the two parties. I'm extremely upset about the "Hillary" brigade, and how those who are promoting and pushing her on us have tried to ruin Dean, and at the same time see far too many Democrats in Congress simply sitting on the fence. I DON'T want to re-open the Dean debate here, he's made mistakes like everyone else, but from where I sit I feel some high level Democrats have NEVER given him a chance.

I'm afraid I'm beginning to understand why moderates are having such a hard time figuring out which way they want to go. I'm having a hard time figuring out what the Democratic Party stands for. I know what we here talk about but what we are hearing and being told from the leaders in Congress, for the most part doesn't exactly coincide with our views. And, THEY don't seem to understand this.
