Beyond furious - GOP pigs joking about Anita Hill
You'd think they would be shamed enough to keep her name out of these hearings after brutalizing her, calling her crazy, saying she had some weird erotic fantasies about Thomas (ick!), and humiliating and degrading her in a very public forum.

You'd also think that Alito being a member of a very anti-woman organization and is anti-choice might cause them to be a little circumspect in their anti-women jokes.

But no, they all just laughed heartily when a joke was made about Hill - just big ol' guffaws. They have no shame and no respect. None.

American women need to WAKE UP and see what these men really think of us!

1. Know what?
What I think of many of them is far, far worse than what they think of me.

5. it was Grassley
Telling a little anecdote - apropos of nothing - about going back to his state and having his consituents complain to him about the way Hill was treated. "And it wasn't even me!" he whooped, making the entire GOP side guffaw with laughter, and even more disgustingly, Specter was leading the laughter.

3. Now, Anita Hill's story was something to really
cry about. A real travesty of justice. I feel like I'm in Bizarro world.

6. true
I just wonder if CNN/MSNBC will replay their 'humor interlude' over and over and over tonight like they did the clip of Mrs. Alito crying yesterday.

They portrayed THAT as brutalizing a women, when their real brutality will go completely unmentioned.

9. I don't think many men really like women all that much.
Women are still just a big joke. Anita Hill is the perfect example. Judge Thomas made it to the court. Anita Hill got destroyed.

It was a horrible travesty. And another really good reason that there should always be several women on the court all of the time.

10. Thomas, more than any other SCOTUS nomination, deserved a filibuster.
That was, by far, the worst nomination to the SCOTUS. Filling Thurgood Marshall's seat with that toady was an obscenity unmatched in the history of SCOTUS nominations, imho.

(9. I don't think many men really like women all that much.)

to paint with that broad a brush. I love women - would love to see one as POTUS - sometimes it IS embarassing to be a male -

18. Agree - was going to post on that. Certain men - of the zealot persuasion
demonstrate such inadequacy. They are actually quite easily to single out - and I insist - a minority.
As a women, I've known better!

12. Read Blinded by the Right, written by the guy who smeared her
David Brooks of Media Matters tells how/why HE did it, and with regret. He also tells what the RW machine is all about and how they planned years ago to get control of the media, then the judiciary branch, then the world.

They're doing it.

Brooks realized the error of his ways. Too bad it seems too late.

13. I actually read his book about Hill
"The Real Anita Hill". Found it in a bargain bin for a dollar and I wanted to shower for a month to wash the filth off after I'd finished reading it - a complete and utter smear job, filled with sexual innuendo that bordered on racist.

I know he's seen the light and all, but it'll be a long time before I buy another one of his books. Some things can't be forgiven or forgotten.
