A metaphor for these times we live in |
|
It seems like the media is scratching their heads, trying to find a way for the Lame One to recover. But he won't. And if you think about your own life, you'll see why.
Think about parties. Not Dems and Repubs, but a gathering of people. It could be for a birthday, a retirement, a holiday, or whatever. It's nice to be there, but there comes a time when you have to leave. But do you ever go back? I honestly can't think of one party I've ever gone back to after I left. For whatever reason, it's just not done.
Now think of the Bush years as a party. I know they haven't been, but stay with me on this. The people, as described through the opinion polls we read about, were once at the BushCo party. And then they started to leave. Now, like Steven Colbert pointed out, only the backwash is left. And they're leaving too, because being at a party after most people have left is, frankly, embarrassing.
So the people who want to find some way for the Bush crowd to get their groove back are wasting their time. Just like you don't go back to a party, you don't go back to a president either. That's just how it is.
In other words, turn out the lights.

that the consveratives preach, because the emptiness of the consumer culture (which is ironically propped up by the elite to keep this mess of an economy working) has left them with a meaningless life where the only core value is selling your soul to the market. So they are quick to bond to every hackneyed cliche veneer, religion, 'values', etc, that these people use to cover the Ayn Randian anti-ethics that they embrace. Eventually, the veneer wears through and reveals the particle-board reality of American 'culture'.

consevative support is based solely on a yearning to "belong".
Wow, that is it to the core!
That is reason that any attempt to reason with them is without reason.
