Hurry, Hurry, Hurry! Get yer Age-Defying shake! Be full of vim and vigor, while your friends are dropping like flies.

What's that? You don't think my snake oil shake can help you stay young? Well, I'll have you know that Pat Robertson, God-man extrodinare, uses this shake! In fact, thanks to this product, he can leg-press 2000 pounds!

So says CBN's website, of which I took a screen-shot in case they change it later after they get busted for exaggeration (aka: lying) in order to sell snake oil shakes.

And here's the original link to the CBN website with the claim:

3. Yeah, right! My weak-ass knees cant even bench press 100 pounds!
There's no way the "Reverend" Pat's legs could bench 2,000 pounds. But then again, he does talk to Satan on a regular basis...

12. probably meant 200 lbs, that would be reasonable
on a leg press machine, it is usually at a 45 degree angle, so sitting down and pushing the weight up on the moving sled at 45 degrees, it is like pushing half of the weight, so 200 pounds would be like 100 pounds. A squat, on the other hand, puts all the weight on your shoulders and back. I can now leg press using 7 45 pound plates on each side of the leg press machine at the gym, or 14 plates equals 630 pounds, rather easily, while I can't squat much more than 225. The world record for a squat is just over 1000 pounds, but I expect you'd need to be on steroids to be going so high in weight.

24. No... the Life Fitness machines give a good advantage...
I did fitness training for some time and so long as they didn't have serious limitations- even my older clients could press 400 on the right machines.

I can certainly believe Maddy could put up 400 on such a machine.

But you're pretty much dead-on.

Pat can press 2 grand like George W. could pass a Mensa test.

16. Pat's sins weigh heavily upon him.
Therefore, he has a LOT to lift.

He made Olbermann's "Worst Person in the World" tonight! And given that he was up against Fox News and Matt Drudge, that wasn't easy!

17. It IS possible to leg press 2000 pounds...
but I wonder if this is a true leg press. If he does not lower the weight to where the knees are bent 90 degrees I doubt he can do it. But, if he had his legs somewhat extended already, then it is possible to push 2000 pounds to full extention.

Let him squat 500 pounds, then I would be impressed.

22. This reminds me of the stories...
...that come out on the North Korea news agency when Kim Jong Il's personality cult was in full swing. "The North Korean news agency reported today that Kim Jong Il, when playing golf with the Libyan ambassador, made 18 holes in one." "The North Korean news agency reported that on Kim Jong Il's birthday, trees were reported to be giving record harvests of fruit and blossoming at the same time." It was a riot.

23. As a student of physiology and a certified exercise enthusiast...
I can say without a doubt that this is an exageration of the highest order.

However... there exist many machines that give leverage advantages to the user, Icarian and Hammer Strength have leg-press machines that do just that.
A body-builder that I know once loaded such a machine with nearly 1500 lbs and a small girl (125 lbs) and put it up nearly 3 times.
But he could squat 550...

If Robertson can press a real 2000 lbs, then I guarantee I could do more on the same machine he uses.

Somehow I think he doesn't realize that he has to be under the 2000 lb load for it to count... not on top of it.
