Suburb tells unwed couple they don’t fit in
From the Columbus Dispatch http://www.dispatch.com/national-story.php?story=dispatch/2006/05/23/20060523-A5-00.html . What is next? this is an outrage.

Last week, the Black Jack City Council rejected a measure to change the law prohibiting more than three people from living together if they are unrelated by blood, marriage or adoption. To help enforce the law, anyone moving into a house in Black Jack, as an owner or renter, is required to go to City Hall, show identification for every resident and obtain an occupancy permit.

4. And, not to mention, after reading the full story - how can
the city kick them out? They OWN the fucking property.

Ridiculous.

Try being gay in America.
Friends of mine just added one of the guys' names to their deed.
The property was reassessed and their taxes went up 3x.
If he married a woman, there would have been no change to the property tax assessment.

2. They tried this in Virginia, in a suburb of Washington DC -
to cut down on the number of people living in large houses. They didn't want families of immigrants - extended families - bringing down property values.

These are "family values?"

I am a bigot. I detest xenophobes.

3. Wow, that's incredibly bigoted, and could set a dangerous precident
the article has a quote about how the city has a right to uphold the sacred moral order of marriage, blah blah...

couldn't they, therefore, legislate anything they want that doesn't fit their mold?

5. I'd tell the town to go fuck itself. And to bring lawyers.
This is such a legally-leaky law in SO many ways. It would last about twelve seconds in court.

6. I know that this is a small town, but
Are they saying that this is the only unmarried couple living together there with child(ren)? I find that hard to believe.
