WHY PUBLIC SCHOOLS PRESSURE PARENTS TO GIVE THEIR KIDS MIND-ALTERING DRUGS
Public-school teaching is structured in such a way that it inevitably bores millions of normal, active children who are forced to sit in classrooms six to eight hours a day with about twenty other immature children. The teacher has to cover the curriculum, so she is pressured to teach all the kids the same material in the same way. Few teachers have the time or patience to know each child's unique personality, interests, strengths, or weaknesses, or give different instruction to each student.

Middle-school and high-school children often have to learn subjects they can't relate to, are not interested in, or that frustrate them, such as history, trigonometry, or foreign languages. As a result, many students get bored, watch the clock, and wait for the school day to end.

Classroom "learning" usually consists of forcing students to read dumbed-down textbooks, memorizing facts from these textbooks, and then regurgitating these meaningless facts on dumbed-down tests. Like Pavlov's obedient dogs, students go from gym to math to English literature to American history every hour at the sound of each period's bells. Their day consists of disconnected lectures on disconnected subjects. Each class lasts only fifty minutes, so their train of thought breaks off at the sound of the bell.

7. I spent my entire life in public school.
And thats EXACTLY how it is. I did have a few teachers who stick out in my mind who really enjoyed what they did and really made a connection with the students. Making it fun to learn. But for the most part it really is starting at the clock until next period.

I went to public school in the ghetto. So I cant speak for schools in the suburbs. There were a few classes that I couldnt take a text book home in because there werent enough to go around. But the rich kids in the suburbs always had their football stadiums.

2. CHECK YOUR SOURCES
And type in lower/title case.

Look at that website. They say things like:

Taking Back America, The Party's Over is over 200 pages of eye-opening, seldom-heard information on Education, the two-Party scam, the Fourth Estate (media), the Judicial system, the Jury and our responsibility, the Bar Association, monetized debt, the Federal Reserve Bank, and Masonic secrecy and how they are all used together to usurp individual freedom.

This is some freeper shit. Get it off of here.

Most teachers at my public school don't teach that way.

4. There are two sides to this story.
Parents also pressure schools. "My sons Doctor says he has ADHD he needs an IEP or 504 Plan". I could get carried away would do no good. From one who has been there for the last 31 years, there are no easy answers.

been in the trenches for 23 years myself, and believe me, more parents are looking for the 'quick fix' of meds than any teacher I work with.

That's why I asked how many hours the poster spent in public school, because if you've been there, you KNOW.

Oh, and I teach a 'useless' foreign language or whatever the poster called it. Sounds xenophobic and repub to me. I have fifth graders who could explain to him why learning a foreign language helps the brain learn many other things, expands our world view, etc.

Oh, and second point, I lead my students in the PLEDGE of allegiance in Spanish, a soon to be 'underground' activity in some states.

Sheesh.

6. What a crock.
Check your source, please. It's BS.

That article is so ridiculous that it sounds like satire.

Too bad it isn't.
