1. He's the best argument for censorship since
Pat Robertson.

Somebody shut these assholes up.

Oh, and throw Reba in the Cone of Silence too, while you're at it.

2. And Joe Scarborough too. I heard a second (too much) of his putting
down the Dixie Chicks too.

Why isn't he with his fellow lowlifes over at fox?

And take Tucker Carlson too.

And so many more.

3. The Chicks stand by their principles...
which is probably a bit too much for the media whores (and lame-ass never-weres like Boone) to deal with.

Johnny Cash would've gotten it. I'd say, based on his new video, Merle Haggard gets it too. And we KNOW Willie gets it. In between tokes, at least. :D

4. Yep. Talking about them betraying their fans. Well excuse them

for having and stating opinions!

Pat Boone. It was a name I was vaguely aware of growing up a million years ago or so. But he was of that older generation way back then, definitely not of the boomers, not like Neil Young or The Beatles etc.

I thought he was liked by the older folks at the time, but not sure.

Willie was cool on the Daily Show, or was it Colbert?

5. I didn't catch Willie on either...
The last time I saw him was as a guest star on Monk, where they made a joke about how his trailer "smelled funny."

I don't think I've ever known anyone who listened to Pat Boone. I'm pretty sure I've never heard him on the radio...even on the "oldies" stations.

6. Hehe. I think he'd be kind of Pre-Oldies. Like Elvis or older. Or
Jerry Lee Lewis although those guys had talent.

7. I've heard him sing...
Hearing Boone do Ozzy is one of my musical nightmares that will haunt me for the rest of my life.

Even the WORST band of the British Invasion makes him sound like a tone-deaf baboon. But, then again, maybe I'm just prejudiced because I like very little (non-classical) white music that came out before I was born. If you go back before '66, pretty much the only popular music I enjoy is Motown stuff.

8. Pat Boone was a major star in the 50s.
Edited on Wed May-24-06 01:28 AM by Chipper Chat
He was the last of the "crooners," the darling of Dot Records founder Randy Wood. His material was "borrowed" from black artists like fats Domino, Joe Turner, and Little Richard. His records outsold the black originals making him AND Dot Records a fortune (check out Billboard Top 40s). His rise to fame under the guidance of managers who knew how to make a buck was the model for later artists like Fabian, Frankie Avalon, and Neil Sedaka (although Sedaka had real talent). Pat was always a nice guy on TV and was billed as squeaky clean. However I knew a PBX operator at Dot who had plenty of stories to tell about his secret affairs even though he was married. After his hits stopped in 1960 he went all-Christian except for his metal album which was a serious spoof.
ON EDIT: I should add that in the 50s I liked his music (so did all my friends)and still have about 8 Boone 45s that I paid $ .98 each for.

9. Sedaka is the only one of that group
I have any use for. It doesn't surprise me Boone made his fortune ripping off the truly talented black musicians of his day.

Bastard.

10. I have one single by Neil Sedaka from way back when, none by
any of the others or Elvis, or Jerry Lee Lewis.
