Neil Young: "The Chicks continues to speak out while others worry..."
A note from Neil Young featured on the scroll at his website: http://www.neilyoung.com/lww/lww.html

if you have not heard the dixie chicks latest recording, be sure to give it a listen... it's coming out this week and is another musical trimumph for the chicks... rock radio should support this project with all the power it has... the chicks continue to speak out while others worry about consequences at country radio... some country stations are not playing the dixie chicks because of listener controversy... like president Bush says, "FREEDOM IS A TWO-WAY STREET" ... maybe those country radio stations should listen to the president and keep both lanes open ny may 22/06

1. Good for him!
The Chicks need all the support they can get. They're getting it here, but they need it out there too.

2. As time rolls by, I love Neil Young more and more
Never thought Ed Vedder would be the guy that batton would get handed to. Vedder is solid and real too, I think.

My .02

3. Anybody see the ACMAs?
the host gave a little bashing of the chicks.

"If the Dixie Chicks can sing with their foot in their mouth, I think I can host these awards!"

4. I deliberately avoided them at all costs.
Stupid remark from the host. How exactly have they had their foot in their mouth?

5. I'm not sure
But I think they did something to exentuate the cheering in response to that comment, either that or there were a lot of really stupid people in the audience. Part of that 29% I'm guessing?

the CMA's get a more jingoistic crowd than say, the grammys or oscars.

PS: Get the Dixie Chicks' album, it's brilliant.

8. Who hosted the show?
I haven't watched CMT, or any Country award shows since the blacklisting of the Chicks three years ago.

12. She got some loud frigging cheers for that line.
It was really low too...

Hard to believe the audience can go even lower.

7. If it wasn't for the "Incident"
I would've never started listening to the Dixie Chicks. They really are talented musicians. Love the fiddle and banjo in a lot of their music. Love the song You Were Mine... so pretty. I'm pretty much anti-country, but I make exceptions for genuine good music.

I'm a little less crazy about Young's new album, even if "Let's Impeach the President" is a catchy sing songy tune. I did, however, love how he had God Bless America on the album. IMO, that song should be our national anthem... either that or America the Beautiful. Either is so much better than the Star Spangled Banner.

I'd love to hear the DC sing God Bless America sometime. They'd do wonderful, as always. And we could start to reclaim patriotism one song at a time.
