May I See Your Papers Please??
Edited on Wed May-24-06 09:58 AM by maxrandb
Well, with a compliant Senate, the Federal Judiciary in their pockets, corporate control of the media, and illegal wiretapping/personal data collection, it appears that the complete and total destruction of what we used to call the Unites States of America is just about complete.

I'm not given to hyperbole, but the way the Senate just sheepishly overturned hundreds of years of progress in voting rights to require IDs with citizenship documentation for American's to vote, sends a very poignant message that our "experiment" in Democracy is dead. It's amazing, because I thought the end would be spectacular with people fighting "tooth and nail" to retain our freedoms. Instead, the end of what we once knew as America was caused by a scary bearded man in a cave in Afghanistan, 5 old white people in Black Robes, a "coke-addled", dry drunk "C" student who discovered sobriety at age 40, a spineless media that cares more about a blow-job than the end of Democracy, and an American populace more concerned with Britney Spear's child's carseat, than with protecting our Constitution.

I thought we'd go out with a bang, but instead, we went out without even a whimper.

As an active duty military member, I have to wonder what it is I'm fighting for. And to those that say, what's the big deal, why shouldn't we require National ID cards, I ask you to look no further than 40 years ago to "poll-taxes" in the south. The people least able to have their voice heard, (the elderly, the disabled, the poor, the unemployed, the Joe Six-pack working 80 hours a week, the single parent, the illiterate, the uneducated, the minorities, the ill) will be the one's MOST DISENFRANCHISED BY THIS LAW. That's not to mention American's serving overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan, or living abroad. How do we propose they get these mandatory ID Cards?

This once great country has allowed itself to be turned into a bunch of snivelling cowards afraid of their own shadows. How else to you explain the ease and the lack of fanfare accompanying passage of this Voter ID Amendment?

I weep for my once great country.

"May I see your papers please"? Gee, where have we heard that before?

1. Sorry, the Consititution is a living document
and nothing the Rulers do to destroy it is illegal. Bush and the current Congressinal Regime have simply been playing the same 3 chords that Lincoln, Wilson, McKinley, Jackson et al have played for years...
