I'm amazed at what Americans have learned to put up with under Bush. |
|
Lying, stealing, cheating, torturing, spying, invading, warring, bombing, genocide, corruption, secrets, pretending, ignoring, and general bullshit that the world war two generation would've considered totally unacceptable.
We've basically learned to tolerate every abomination as if it were just a reality t.v. show instead of real life. Pitiful, pitiful, pitiful.

1. It really boggles the mind, doesn't it? |
|
So many times I've told myself, "okay this is it. No one's going to stick up for this bastard any longer." But so many people just roll over and ask for more.

television, money, self interest ahead of community interest -- they have innoculated the citizen against outrage.
it's actually the 2000 election that marks the real highlight.
the people let the supreme court install a government on their behalf.

5. I don't think Americans have learned to put up with it, I think the MEDIA |
|
simply downplays those things so much, most busy people simply have no idea! I can't even count the # of people I've told about the different rights that have been taken away, and they were SHOCKED! I always send them backup documentation so they know I'm not just blowin smoke. Unfortunately, I can't talk to everyone!
I wish I knew how to get the MEDIA to point all this out!

7. It hasn't affected them directly |
|
And by the time that it does it will be too late to make changes.
That is the most frightening aspect of all.
We need to face facts: Most Americans have absolutely no idea what "civil rights" means. If you ask most Christians, they will have a negative view of civil liberties because of their hatred of the ACLU. People can shrug their shoulders over the NSA wiretapping because they do not have a clear understanding of the importance (and existence) of the fourth amendment.
As a veteran it appalls me to see our hard-won rights and freedoms being given away by apathetic and ignorant "citizens".

8. Hate To Say It But: People Put Up With Things They Do Themselves |
|
We are a far cry from the nation we were in 1939 in a lot more ways than George W. Bush.
People only put up with things they either do or know they would, given the choice, do themselves.

9. I'm more surprised the Dems have had no spine through all this |
|
The repuke spin machine screamed impeachment over a stupid extra-marital blowjob while Clinton was in the white house.
Considering all that's happened under shrub's tyrrany, why aren't more dems and progressives screaming for repuke heads on platters?
I just don't get it and it's very dis-illusioning.

10. I know that a lot of it is the media's fault, but not all of it. |
|
The majority of people that I talk to just don't give a shit. (Present company excluded!). As long as these things don't affect their day to day routine, they do not give it a second thought.
Lying? "They didn't lie to me."
Stealing? "Hey -- Bush cut taxes...he's one of us."
Spying? "I don't have anything to hide...no worries."
Invading, bombing, warring? "Fighting the war on terror."
The information is out there, as we all know. If people cared, they would find it. If I mention PNAC to people I know, I'll bet you 95% of them will look at me like I'm speaking Chinese. I guess you could say that is the media's fault, but ignorance is bliss. They don't know and they don't want to know.
You can bet your ass that if Clinton was doing this, the media would make sure that the public knew about it.

I've been called a "wack-o" more times than I care to think about for simply mentioning the existence of PNAC. The standard response is "If the stuff you're talking about was real, we'd hear about it on the news."
Try convincing people that "the news" isn't. Not easy.

17. So these people are gullible, greedy and self serving. And unless |
|
one is a millionaire, bush is not "one of us". How come people don't give a shit when it's bush, but they would and did when it was Clinton? They certainly found the time to pay attention during that witch hunt. They believed every damn thing the media whores spewed and it didn't matter if the facts proved different. Hard evidence of bush lying, cheating, stealing etc. goes unnoticed and/or ignored. No wonder I constantly feel like doing this, :banghead: or this, :argh:

|
a lot of hypocrites in this country!!
Clinton gets a blowjob? -- impeach now!!
Bush destroys the country? -- ho hum; what time is American Idol on?
A lot of people are going to wake up one morning and finally realize that America ain't what they thought it was.

11. The average American is not well informed. |
|
He/she would be way more likely to identify the names Laci Peterson, Natalee Holloway, Barry Bonds, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, etc......
than Samuel Alito, Alberto Gonzales, John Bolton, Karl Rove, Michael Hayden, etc....
I'll bet if you asked 100 people at random what's been "in the news" lately you'd hear a lot about celebrity babies, missing blondes, an injured racehorse, a sports record, and American Idol.

21. Out of curiosity I tuned in for a couple of |
|
minutes last night to see who made the finals. I had never watched this trainwreck before. My God, both of the finalists are only marginally "talented" in the most generous sense of the word. The guy looks and sounds like he might be able to eek out a career as an opener in Branson, and the young woman is attractive, but her voice? Meh. Reminded me of a Miss America contestant during a "talent" competition.

not broken any laws, except he referred to him as Tom Malloy. I told him I hadn't heard of that scandal, desperately trying to recall who Tom Malloy is. He went on to describe 'Malloy' as the powerhouse republican congressman who had been indicted. I asked, "Do you mean Tom Delay?" "Yeah, him." he said. I shook my head & asked him how how much detail he actually knew about the case considering he didn't even know the guy's name. :eyes:
This is the level of awareness of people that vote.

12. I think it's the result of a couple of things. |
|
1. The middle class has practically been destroyed in the last few decades. The average American lives check to check. They have little free time, and their awareness of the world is limited to a vague sense of having been cheated.
2. Media consolidation. More than ever, the big media is simply the PR department for Wall Street.

|
Slavery for over 200 years Genocide on several occasions The oppression of women Jim Crow Blatant imperialism The suppression of Labor Wars of aggression Subversion, assasination, and aid to dictators during the (not so) "Cold War" Use of WMD
and, a whole list of other crimes against humanity that the American people, not only accept, but cheer.

what's even more troubling is that the Democratic Party establishment see s to have learned the same thing too. Look at Hayden's easy ride through the Senate Intelligence Committee.
