12. It's real
Novak works at the American Enterprise Institute, a far rightwing neo-con think-tank.

26. Not much "thinking" going on at the "think tank"
Maybe they're drinking koolaide from the think tank well. But I can see how some would view this as a parody. I mean, behind Washington and Lincoln, our bravest president! Oh, God, that's just too damn funny!!!!!

5. this part was about Clinton, right?
"He has faced the most intense fire, hatred, contempt, heavily moneyed and bitterly acidic partisan opposition, underhandedness, betrayal, of any president in the last hundred years. He has faced hostility over a longer time, in possibly the most dangerous period of international warfare in our national history. He has remained constant, firm, decided, and generous (to a fault) with his opponents"

10. Does Kosovo count?
I was mostly referring to all the bitter Ken-Starriness of his Presidency and the well-funded attack machine that always humming in the background.

(I sad "humming"!!)

9. Bwaahaahaa! If you read it as satire, it's hilarious.
Edited on Wed May-24-06 04:50 PM by sparosnare
But if you read it as a sincere attempt to paint Bush as a noble, decent individual who acts out of selflessness for the good of the country - well.....that's hilarious too!

11. Judging from where he came from...
I think he's serious.

"Michael Novak is the winner of the 1994 Templeton Prize for progress in RELIGION and the George Frederick Jewett Scholar in RELIGION, Philosophy, and Public Policy at the American Enterprise Institute"

14. Well that explains his ass-kissing.
He's a neocon, part of the AEI crowd along with Kristol. Always good to know the motives behind advocacy pieces like this one. :hi:

13. The neo-con Novak is confusing arrogance with bravery
Not surprising Novak wouldn't know the difference, considering how top heavy the conservatives and neo-cons are with chickenhawks.

15. I saw this. Palms must have been greased, but the message is disturbing
Way, way too frequent in the last two weeks, that Bush is beyond criticism, and any disagreement is a threat to National Security. Be aware, folks.

16. I can agree with this statement
. . . but not quite the way Novak intends.

On the number-one issue facing the nation—the war declared upon us by fascists who pretend to be religious—he has not wavered, he has not bent, he has stayed on course and true.

He has faced the most intense fire, hatred, contempt, heavily moneyed and bitterly acidic partisan opposition, underhandedness, betrayal, of any president in the last hundred years.

Has he forgotten the FDR years?

28. WTFx2
In Iraq, civil society, nearly comatose under Saddam Hussein, is today alive and full of vitality. Newspapers and television and magazines are full of diversity and energy, political parties multiply, private associations are functioning by the thousands, most of the country is more secure than some American cities. Iraqi exiles from around the world, far from fleeing, are coming back in droves.
