Outrageous! Lou Dobbs says Bush has turned Congress over to the Dems with |
|
the passage of the Senate immigration bill. Mr. Dobbs forgets who is in control of the Senate and in the White House, but he seems determined to lay the blame entirely with the Democrats. Surely he knows that no bill will come out of the conference committee, thanks to the likes of James Sensenbrenner.

10. Hi, liberalnurse. I've always felt that Lou should never have left the |
|
Teletubbies.
Granted, CNN offered him a lot of cash and a nice contract, but damn it, The Teletubbies were a VERY successful group, and have millions of fans the world over.
The Teletubbies, of course, may have wanted Lou to go, something akin to the Beatles wanting Ringo in instead of Peter Best.
Hard to know these things.
_______
Never liked Lou's biased reporting and I hope he is carried off by space aliens very soon.

Old Teletubbies don't change their coat color ...ever. It's permanent. :)

7. That little prick has his defenders here |
|
which really surprises me.
He's a rightwing flack, and shameless about it.
Wonder when his folks came to the US, or is "Dobbs" an old American Indian name?
Ever wonder about that?

Hey there. Nice to see ya tonight on DU.
Guess what? On your recommendation some while back I have ordered Mario M. Cuomo's WHY LINCOLN MATTERS and it got here this afternoon! Can't wait to dive into it -- it looks GREAT. Thanks for that recommendation!

I mean, he's Mario.
I'm SO glad you got it. It's a great read, and - this is the god's honest truth - I was looking at my copy a while ago, on this big desk, and I thought, "I ought to re-read that tonight."
So, this is a sign - I'll be re-reading that wonderful little book again tonight, my friend. Thanks for confirming..............
Yeah, "Dobbs" in American Indian means "Bite me, Lou."
Bet you didn't know that.

4. I didn't see the show, but as you state it ....... |
|
..... I'd see the meaning more about the midterms - i.e.: passing the bill will cause the Repubs to lose in 06, ergo 'turning Congress over to the Dems'.
But as I said, I didn't see the show and that reaction is simply to the way you reflected what got said.

11. If the bill were to pass, which it won't, Dobbs would try to demonize Dems |
|
and tell voters to vote them out, not Republicans.

5. I think he was saying that the immigration bill will seal |
|
the fate of the republican majority.
All this huffing and puffing over walls, amnesty, deportation is bullshit. All they have to do is make hiring illegals so painful even Wal Mart won't hire them. Huge fines teamed up with seizure of property will do the trick. Maybe jail time for second offenders would be a good idea.

Paleo Conservative under the banner of Independent.
He may seem to be a friend of Dems because of his railings against Illegal Immigration,Outsourcing, Insourcing and Mfg. Re-location, which many Americans agree with but he is no Dem ally.

17. Lou's a bloviating, self-righteous, blowhard. |
|
When not praising Minutemen, lobbing softballs at racist bigots like Tom Tancredo, compiling lists of corporations who have "sold America down the river" (while simultaneously recommending their stocks to investors in his subscriber-only business newsletter), Lou spends the remainder of his on-air time disparaging illegal immigrants as lawbreakers meriting punishment. Mining the rich veins of American xenophobia for ratings purposes, Lou plainly enjoys making himself wealthy as the self-proclaimed champion of "America's forgotten middle class" (who are losing all their $50K/year jobs to Jaime, Pepe, and Chuey)
His pretentions to honest journalism are belied by his biased and interruptive interviewing practices and his imbecilic polls (Do illegal immigrants who obtain hospital services free of charge increase medical costs for honest Americans? Vote Yes or No at LouDobbs.com).
Lou's latest schtick, apparently, is an attempt to convince us that Mexican immigration is part of a dastardly plot on the part of Vicente Fox to recover the lost area of Aztlan from Americans who stole it from the Mexicans fair and square back in the 1850s.
Lou richly deserves to be ignored. Sadly, lots of people here like him. Go figure.

21. This is what most people want |
|
It'll only hurt Democrats when the stuck on stupid Democrats insist on buying into the Lou Dobbs talking points instead of showing how this bill will help workers because it gives immigrants the right to demand labor laws are followed and the ability to fight for higher wages. Just like with outsourcing, all Lou Dobbs does is gets the workers fighting against each other instead of fighting the corporations.

Hate to say I told ya so and all of that. He knows how to plug into American male anxiety, but his goal is to turn you against the right solutions and against the Democrats. He's a Republican for chrissake.
