and according to a new poll that might be iffy at this point. (Currently a Democrat holds this senate seat, but is retiring).
Republican Lt. Governor Steele leads both of his potential Democratic rivals, Steele and Mfume by 5-7 points.

Yes, this is rasmussen polling, but he also has had recent polls showing Democrats leading in such Republican held Senate seats as Pennsylvania and Missouri and neck and neck contests in Montana and Ohio.
Can Cardin and Mfume do the job? and how strong is Steele?

and I don't believe the rasmussen poll. For one thing, Steele, even though he's Lt. Governor, is virtually unknown in Maryland.
