6. I don't know. She died in 1971, making any answer enigmatic
She didn't seem like the blowhard type, although I never did meet the woman.

8. Maybe she did pass, maybe not. She could be there drinking
Tequila and surf fishing.

Hell it too hot and full of republicans, and Heaven is boring with nothing stronger than weak tea to drink. Mexico is the perfect place for those who have passed through the reeds.

7. Meh
The Pacific season is different than the Atlantic.
And most storms form near the coast and wander into the ocean to die, reverse that of the Atlantic.

9. Aletta is predicted to be small, bring rain and mudslides
It will probably be minor except for those directly impacted, but the season is upon us. Happy Tropical Storm/Hurricane Season!

11. Not quite my point
I was trying to say that when people say "Hurricane season" they are generally referring to the Atlantic season, and that, with very few exceptions, the Pacific season doesn't matter to the US.

12. I understand now. Still, the first named storm of the season
that is all.

13. Whaddyamean? Exxon/Mobil can't raise prices? That's unfair.
No sense in having a storm if big oil can't do some gouging at the pumps.

10. Not going any farther East than what's forecast....
...this Pacific storm will go the way of all Pacific hurricanes, follow the warm westerly flow of water and head out to sea before smacking into the colder currents to the north. The real incubator for the South Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico is West Africa. Check out the satellite imagery from METEOSAT 7 here:

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/satellite.shtml

Also the best graphic forecast products are found here:

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/tafb-atl.shtml

My favorites are the Wind/Wave Forecast, Surface Analysis Forecast and the Sea-Surface Temperature Analysis. Finally, for more recent Sea Surface observations go to

http://www.nodc.noaa.gov/dsdt/cwtg/

for the latest coastal (beach temperature) water report and here:

http://www.osdpd.noaa.gov/PSB/EPS/SST/SST.html

for a larger scale temperature contour chart.

Oh, and to keep this relevant with DU, fuck Bush and the horse he rode in on.
