My Lai in Babylon

How many have occurred that didn't make "the news"?

1. Too many
It's inevitable, weapons, battle, rage, death, fear. It will continue to happen. The only question is how many will we discover?

3. be careful here
Hell is full of heros. War will do many things to men. We don't know the whole story, but it is one that has been repeated in every war since the beginning of time.

5. we DO know that unarmed men, women and CHILDREN were massacred!!
just because it's happened before doesn't make it acceptable.

If someone came into your neighbors house and murdered the entire family I wonder if you would have the same "cautious" response to "not knowing the whole story"...

What a load of crap.

The Marines committed murder, George Bush has committed war crimes.

Putting those Marines in the position they were in is a crime.

An unjust war results in unjust death.

11. Exactly what happened to the Marines
someone shot their family members and that pisses you off. There are no uniforms in this war so everyone that's a diiferent color becomes the enemy. These are 19 year old kids put yourself in their position I know I couldn't say I wouldn't do the samething, doesn't make it right, but it doesn't make them monsters either.Makes them human.Getting shot at and blownup everyday does bad things to the human mind.Blame the guy that put them there.

12. I partly agree with you, nonetheless, they killed innocent people.
you said- "There are no uniforms in this war so everyone that's a diiferent color becomes the enemy."

Does that include Hispanic and African-American Marines too? They are "a different color" as you say, to which I assume you mean "not white".

The Marines were shot because they are occupying someone else's country, unjustly I might add.

Notice I said - George Bush is a war criminal.

13. It was revenge murder. Soldiers are legally and morally bound
to TAKE CARE not to kill civilians.

Age has nothing to do with it, nor "who" put them there.

16. legally maybe morally you are right.
In a perfect world everything is black and white.Unfortunately in war there are many shades of gray. You can only expect a person to think clearly to a certain point.Facts are things like this happen in war I refuse to judge people who are in a situation that I can't even dream what it could be right. If that makes me a bad person so be it.

4. Here is an article by Karen Kwiatkowski
Edited on Sun May-28-06 09:18 AM by MikeNearMcChord
Goes into detail of how will this be handled, in other words the Marines swing, the higher ups skate. And damns both the leadership and the media.

6. Of course, unless a major magazine runs a story on it,
the military won't do anything. It was the same thing in My Lai. I think it was actually Time who ran the story on that as well.
