'Vampyre' Candidate Backs Public Impaling
I guess this will be on Keith Olbermann's show tonight. Proving that not ALL crazy stories come from Florida. Then again ... you gotta hand it to this guy for putting a new perspective on "evil" ... and honestly I can think of a few "terrorists" US citizens are dealing with right now that deserve a public impaling: :banghead:

'Vampyre' Candidate Backs Public Impaling

Thursday, January 12, 2006
MINNEAPOLIS - One gubernatorial candidate in Minnesota is giving a whole new meaning to the "dark side" of politics. A man who calls himself a satanic priest plans to run for governor on a 13-point platform that includes the public impaling of terrorists at the state Capitol building.

Jonathon Sharkey, also known as "The Impaler", plans to launch his gubernatorial campaign on - when else? - Friday the 13th. He'll make the announcement in Princeton.

"I'm going to be totally open and honest," said the 41-year-old leader of the "Vampyres, Witches and Pagans Party."

"Unlike other candidates, I'm not going to hide my evil side," he said.

In Minnesota, anyone who pays the $300 filing fee can get on the gubernatorial ballot and it seems that every year a few eccentric candidates make the rounds.

Sharkey raises the bar. For one thing, he told the Star Tribune in an e-mail that he drinks blood.

Including the impaling of terrorists, rapists, drug dealers and other criminals, Sharkey's platform includes emphasis on education, tax breaks for farmers and better benefits for veterans.

Sharkey said he worships Lucifer and, while he says he has nothing against Christians, he calls the "Christian God the Father" his "mortal enemy."

Sharkey said he was injured during a parachute jump with the Army in 1982 and receives veterans' disability benefits.

He has not yet registered as a gubernatorial candidate, but he has already filed as a candidate for the 2008 presidential election.

8. True
He doesn't have a whole fake thing going on with being religious in the sense of the Christian community and being a hypocrite about it. I could care less about his religious beliefs. If he has a platform worth supporting, such as better benefits for veterans and public education, than another person running than why not? I remember here in my town last April we had a mayoral race and there were rumors going around one of the candidates was an atheist and everyone freaked out about it which was totally ridiculous. A local news affiliate was able to interview her and she said she was Christian and said someone from the now mayor's campaign did the smearing (they denied it). Your personal beliefs shouldn't matter in public service.

17. Well, thank god at least he worships something!
Even the blood-lust of a Satan-worshiping vampire is preferable to an Atheist. Can't have anyone in public office that doesn't accept some kind of mythology as reality can we?

2. How come all religious people hate drugs so much?
From his web site:

"From being a former member of MADD’s Public Policy Board, I am very
well aware of the danger of those who DWI/DUI. As Governor I will
introduce stronger laws to punish those who drive impaired by drugs
and/or alcohol. These criminals will do jail time, from their very first
offense.

During my time as Governor, drug dealers and users will live in fear. I
will introduce extremely harsh punishment for those who not only use
illegal drugs, I will fight to make dealers serve life in prison, or better
yet, Impalement."

Same shit, different god: Anyone caught having a good time will be punished.

18. DWI = Driving While Impaled?
I suspect that comes with the second offense.

9. Now wait a moment....
Vampires, according to different sites are regular people not a religious or political position. In other words he is lumping a minority into his mix. So in other words he is that type of people should vote with him. That is like saying a black person should vote only democrat just because they are black. NOT COOL DUDE!!

14. I don't think real witches and pagans will appreciate his speaking for
them like this. I've known quite a few, and none of them were bloodthirsty people. If he claimed to be a fundamentalist Christian, though, he might have some support from the far-right fringe. Sounds more like a publicity stunt than an actual attempt to run for office.

21. Come on now, we should not make fun of this.
He is trying to encompass a minority to a political party. Vampires are not an idea or a religion, They are a People of a Minority, not a Political Party.
