Is Delay a cartoon character in new kid's flick, Over the Hedge? |
|
Just took my grandson to see this movie, and the villain in the film is an overweight, meaner than nails exterminator who make Texas references! I could even see a facial resemblance. After the movie, my daughter told me that she had read a review last week and the reviewer said that there were many right wing references in the movie and that he had not appreciated that since he was a conservative.
Guess I'll have to watch it again when it comes out on DVD. (A movie theater filled with four year olds is not the best place to listen for pithy political commentary...:))

1. I took the kids to see it yesterday, and I wasn't looking out for any of |
|
that. I could see though how the character of the exterminator could be taken as mocking Repuke mentality though.
They pretty much shat upon the suburban McMansion SUV lifestyle.
But really, the movie wasn't all that deep or thought provoking.

2. I did immediately think of Delay when the exterminator truck |
|
pulled up! But I agree, I didn't catch a lot of political references. But I'm really glad the right wing guy did, and that he was offended. Gee, wonder how it feels to live in his paranoid little world?

3. I tuned to a religious radio show on my drive from Oklahoma to Kansas |

The other day for some giggles, and the hosts were talking about Over the Hedge, and how it was a good family movie. Usually, those are the kinds of people who will go into a movie looking for anything "negative" like that, but they had nothing but praise for it. Maybe they had an off day.
