A dire warning for Bush.
Edited on Thu Jun-01-06 08:34 AM by Lerkfish
MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN

Words written by a mysterious hand on the wall of Belshazzar's palace, and interpreted by Daniel as predicting the doom of the king and his dynasty. The incident is described as follows: Once when King Belshazzar was banqueting with his lords and drinking wine from the golden vessels of the Temple of Yhwh, a man's hand was seen writing on the wall certain mysterious words. Frightened by the apparition, the king ordered his astrologers to explain the inscription; but they were unable to read it. Daniel was then summoned to the royal palace; and the king promised him costly presents if he would decipher the inscription. Daniel read it "Mene, mene, tekel, upharsin" and explained it to mean that God had "numbered" the kingdom of Belshazzar and brought it to an end; that the king had been weighed and found wanting; and that his kingdom was divided and given to the Medes and Persians (Dan. v. 1-28).

Good morning. this image, of a ghostly hand writing that message on the wall, is stuck in my head in regards to our present administration.
Just like King Belshazzar, Bush blithely continues his empirical juggernaut, morphing into a dime store mussolini and stripping our country of its wealth, its industry, its honor, and its purpose. Like thieves on a battlefield, they grapple over the last bit of armor or weapons and pay no heed to the corpses of their countrymen they trample over.

George W Bush, on the deaths of our sons and daughters, you caper and dance. George W Bush, on the shreds of our laws you hunker down and defecate. George W Bush, on the dignity of our patriots you pile false accusations, and the cries of the people you smother with false and empty rhetoric.
George W Bush, out of the pit of your throat you spew lies like a sickened torrent. You expect us to think your vomit is honey.
George W Bush, you have raided the treasure houses of our elders and poor and bought opulent clothing for your jackals of war. You then swept the houses clean and tore them down so no one can ever use them again.
George W Bush, you have claimed to be a christian, while you revel in execution, slaver at torture and aroused at the deaths of innocents. you have deemed the deaths of other's children an equal measure of your own political advantage. you have spent the coin of the grief of mothers for their sons to buy more flag-draped coffins.

you have been measured, GW Bush, and you have been found wanting. Your kingdom will be divided.

thus ends my rant.

1. medes and the persians
I wonder where exactly these kingdoms were. Are the persians the same as iran today, did
it include iraq and afganistan at the time as well. Then the irony is complete, the
kingdom is given over to the persians, our schools, roads and goodwill are pissed off
in to the desert.

7. More than irony
THat includes by that map:

Israel/Palestine
Parts of Jordan
Syria
Turkey
Lebannon
Turkmenistan
Uzbekistan
Tajikistan
Afganistan
Azerbaijan
Armenia
Southwest pakistan
Parts of Egypt
Iran
Iraq

If i were to add up the total dollars spent in these countries, gifted by the US taxpayer,
in bombs, war, oil payments, all the empire broken and gifted to Persia by Allah.

That's more than irony, its prescient and spooky, ghostly hand writing indeed.

8. Belshazzar == Bushaliar
Maybe they just got the spelling wrong and the story is a seeing of the future.

3. Indeed
The division of his kingdom that's really going to do him in is the increasingly gaping chasm between the corporate kleptocrats and the Christianists.
