All I can say is that we deserve every bit of what we are getting. People have ignored the truth in this country for a long period of time. The republicans have always been upfront about their brand of 'conservativism'. What do people think they've been trying to accomplish for the last 40 or 50 years? Does anybody really think that they believe in family values or christianity or the right to life? These are all just buzzwords to steer the gullible and the ignorant into allowing them to curtail freedom, pillage the treasury and thumb their noses at the law of the land. I'd like to think that the American populace is waking up; however, I just can't be that optimistic. Is anyone ever going to be held accountable in this administration? I don't think so.

the justice department had every opportunity to prevent the 911 attacks using the the laws that were available to them at that time.
they now want MORE power to not do the job of protecting america.
by chipping away at our civil liberties, our own government is becoming more and more like the totalitarian regimes that our soldiers are dying fighting.

Let the so-called 'government' record away! This reminds me of the Staasi in the old east German socialist republic: they had extensive warehouses of files on their citizenry, but not enough staff to keep track of records or interpret the information.
To return this compliment to the American people by the 'government', I propose that the Bush administration's documents and doings are FULLY investigated for fraud, and criminal and treasonous intent when they leave office. Deceptive dealings with energy brokers and no bid contractors for the wars, selective leakings of classified information, the spreading of public 'misinformation', security files kept on citizens and war crimes willfully committed should be fully scrutinized. Let's make an EXAMPLE of this administration regarding accountability!

So, all of a sudden the republicans, who used to hate and distrust government are all hell bent to poke and peer into the most private facets of our lives. Whatever happened to "Give me liberty or give me death?" It just shows how we need to vote for Democrats in November to protect our liberty! How ironic.

Let's just get rid of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. It costs a lot of money to store and show it and Bush says it is, "just a god damned piece of paper", and acts like he believes it.
I won't waste time with the Ben Franklin quote that applies here.
