Some interesting polls
I got a mailing from the DSCC today and in it are several polls of races.

I know these are likely cherry picked polls but they can't be wildly off or they would get busted for it.

PA Casey 52 Santorum 35
MO McCaskill 43 Talent 40
AZ Pederson 31 Kyl 42
OH Brown 46 Dewine 37
MT Morrison 50 Burns 40 Tester 48 Burns 42

all the above are GOP seats and undecided break for challengers.

MD Cardin 45 Steele 35 or Mfume 42 Steele 38
TN Ford 44 VanHilleary 47
MN Klobuchar 49 Kennedy 41

In all cases Dem is listed first. All but two of these seats are currently GOP. We could gain 6 seats right here. Only AZ appears out of reach in this list.

1. Do they have any idea why AZ is different?

2. No reason given

My best guess is that McCain is hugely popular and that some of that rubs off on Kyl. It also should be noted that no title other than Demcratic challenger is given to Pederson. I am not from AZ so I have no idea how well known he is in AZ. I do know I have no clue who he is but I also don't know several of the other people listed either.

5. actually it is wrong
but not in the direction you are thinking. The latest polls I saw had Santorum down to 33 and Casey at 58. That would put the polls within the MOE though.

7. Here are some recent polls in the PA Senate Race.
Edited on Sat Jun-03-06 02:46 PM by VolcanoJen
Might want to re-think the level of Rick Santorum's popularity.

Quinnipiac
(5/11) 49-36 Casey

Strategic Vision
(5/10) 49-41 Casey

Keystone
(5/4) 47-41 Casey

Rasmussen
(4/27) 51-38 Casey

You might be confused by something you heard on the radio.

4. I agree and disagree
The PA, MD, MT, are pretty good chance but watch out for New Jersey.
MO, TN, OH I wouldn't bet the farm

The polls are a little biassed, in my opinion.

6. NJ really worries me
Neither Senator is popular there and Corizine has only been gov a short time. I think that race will depend on Corizine being able to clean up Trenton. As to the rest. Ohio is all but a lock. Ohio is NJ in reverse. No Ohio or national Republican has any kind of numbers there. DeWine is in serious trouble.

9. It would be sweet to see Allen go down
He is such an arrogant ass. I am no fan of Webb but Webb could be Hitler and still better than Allen.
