Why are the Neo-Cons so worried about Gay Marriage??
When 2 people get married, how does that affect anyone but those 2 people??

I believe that if you love someone, anyone, you should be able to not only be together, but be together lawfully. This includes marriage. I find it reprehensible that a gay couple cannot make medical decisions for one another, but a man who beats his wife can make a decision, just because they are married.

Also, right now 2 gay people cannot marry, so why the big hoopla. I know it's a smokescreen. I just hope Americans can see right through it.

16. The "neocons" are NOT the ones worried about gay marriage.
A lot of them are closet gays. It's the RWing, evangelicals and other religious fanatics who are worried about gay marriage.

3. Let me put it to you this way:
1. They are against it simply because they don't support it and they aren't indifferent. Black-and-white thinking. No gray areas.

2. It isn't the issue. It's Rove mobilizing the base.

3. RNC and Rove plan on using the vote to use during the Senate and congressional campaigns as far as having on the record who is FOR gay marriage if they didn't vote for this constitutional addition. That includes putting pressure on their candidates (if they voted against it, few allbeit) to compensate by being more neoconish on other social issues, i.e., support the president, support Iraq, support $1 trillion more on the national debt, etc. Win-win.

4. They aren't worried in reality they couldn't care less but they see.......
....the neocon/fundie base deserting in droves and need issues to draw them back. Expect a lot of talk about the marriage amendment, border security without truly doing anything of course, school prayer, pledge of allegiance in schools, and other neocon/fundie issues.

5. The neo-cons could give a shit. They only pretend to whip up
the "fear of neighbor" that kept the blind in fear during the cold war.

That's why when things go bad for them Christians are under faux-attack.

7. They're not. They are appealing to prejudice
Edited on Wed Jun-07-06 06:40 AM by Solly Mack
It's easier to appeal to a person's prejudices than it is to appeal to their reason.

People act on their ignorance and hate...their fear

Reason demands they change....posturing and blaming others is far easier.

9. They're not; they're just energizing the "Willing Fools"
They're not; they're just energizing the "Willing Fools"
who will vote against all of their other interests just
to ensure that Adam and Steve can't get hitched.

If people voted on the entire Republican platform,
the Republicans would only get about 1% of the vote,
so they have to depend on smokescreens like "Gay
Marriage!" to lure in the rubes.

10. They're worried they're running out of wedge-issues
They got to divide us in order to conquer us. Or rather: keep us divided in order to keep us conquered.

"divide and conquer". and we become more united and get out there and vote. The more of us who are out there to vote, will scare the shit out of them.

12. They dread the day when the Left and the Right found out
they have more in common with one another then either has in common with the corporate rulers who call the shots.

13. "right now 2 gay people cannot marry"
Actually they can in Massachussettes and they can get civil unions (which in my opinion is the only sort of 'marriage license' that the state ought to offer) in several states. The hideous hateful FMA would ban both types of domestic partnerships for same sex couples.

And they need a new boogieman so that the religious right nutbags flock to these evil bastards for protection.
