Every Single Senator From New England Voted To Kill the Anti-Gay Amendment
5 Republicans. 6 Democrats. 1 independent.

All NAY votes.

From the region of the country that actually understands family values, and how to value families, with the lowest divorce rate in the nation.

I have never been prouder to be a born and bred Yankee.

Kudos to every single one of these Senators.

Conn:
Dodd
Lieberman

RI:
Chaffee
Reed

Mass:
Kerry

NH:
Gregg

3. They live close enough to Massachusetts to see
the sky hasn't fallen. Society hasn't crumbled. Straight marriages aren't rendered meaningless in droves.

Good for them!

6. Also
RI is pretty accepting of GLBT. We, of course, have our goombas, but they are in the minority. Providence is a very progressive city. A gay mayor, home of The Rhode Island School of Design, Brown University, mixed population.

It's not perfect, but I've lived a lot of places around the country... Texas, Florida, California and I'm home in RI to stay.

Now if we could only get rid of our asshole govenor!

8. Nope, that's not it.
Even if MA hadn't legalized gay marriage these folks would have voted against amending the Constitution. Like most Senators, they know it's dead wrong. In New England however, there will be no repercussions for voting against it.

5. Exactly!
I've never heard it put exactly that way, but it's very fitting.

I'm a New Englander born and bred and that pretty much sums things up nicely.

9. So did both our senators from Wisconsin
Feingold, who isn't afraid to show some backbone, and Kohl, who has been in the closet most of his life.
