...by saying that 'we bagged Public Enemy Number One.' Wow, it's like we just shot John Dillinger again! Just call Shrub by his new name: 'Elliot W. Ness.'

4. Nah, Osama doesn't matter any more.
Shrub 'doesn't even think about him' these days. He's of no concern at all. Just a passing annoyance. Nothing to see here, move along.

Now he's NUMERO UNO. Now that he's supposedly dead.

7. Please try to keep up.
Osama bin Laden was the guy who shot J. R. Ewing.

Zarqawi is 'Public Enemy Number One' and orchestrated the St. Valentine's Day massacre.

I think that's right.

8. Tony Blair has already started.
(The Guardian)
Blair: Zarqawi death is 'severe blow to al-Qaida'

Staff and agencies
Thursday June 8, 2006

Tony Blair has hailed the killing of the leader of al-Qaida in Iraq
as "a very important moment for Iraq".

In a short statement released this morning Mr Blair said the US air raid
that killed Abu Musab al-Zarqawi would deal a severe blow to al-Qaida.

"A blow for al-Qaida in Iraq is a blow for al-Qaida everywhere," he said.

17. Yup. It'll be like the Saddam capture all over again. A giant smirkfest.
It will probably have the same effect as capturing Saddam had on the insurgency also--which is essentially none.

Domestically it will boost the president's poll numbers a bit--maybe alot--if there are any braincells still functioning in Bush's head he may use this event to declare victory and get out in time for the elections but that is doubtful.

23. Yes, a great victory for 'terrorist cells' everywhere.
Edited on Thu Jun-08-06 06:04 AM by Swamp Rat
Zarqawi's worthless ass has now been transformed into a great weapon in this asymmetrical war: a martyr.

If Bushler gets on TV today to blather about it, it will not only show how much they do not understand their enemy, it will also give the 'terrorists' a HUGH1! boost in morale.

24. we shouldn't be seen "crowing" about Zarqawi's sudden absense...
either imo if indeed he is absent (DNA in 24hrs), there is nothing to be gained and everything to be lost being seen pining for the loss of cold blood killers be they Zarqawi, or the perpetrators of Haditha, or the cold blooded takers of innocent blood anywhere

36. Nothing will change.
Two weeks from now, the insurgency will be stronger. The killings will continue, the chaos will deepen. One man - even Zarqawi - cannot embody the entire Iraq debacle, such that his killing means that "victory" (whatever that is) is at long last ours.

I'm not sure what would have to be wrong with you to believe the self-serving nonsense we will be treated to on the MSM in the next few days. I think I'll go fishin'.
