italian soldier killed in iraq - compare coverage
I'm posting this here so you can compare the way military deaths are covered in the media in the U.S. and Italy as well as how the state handles it.

This is a video of the principal news program (TG1 on RAI Uno) this morning on the return of the body of Alessandro Pibiri, killed in Iraq on Monday. It was the lead story (after about 1.5 minutes of headlines). The man you see touch the flag draped coffin is Napolitano, the President of the Republic.

This afternoon, from 1-7pm, a "funeral chamber" will be set up for the public to come show their respects.

And tomorrow the funeral will be held in San Paolo, Rome's second largest church after St. Peter at the Vatican. The choice of this church was to be able to hold the large turnout expected.
