The People's Senator: Carl Sheeler - My New Article!!!
The People's Senator: Carl Sheeler

When Americans think of politicians today, they tend to think of people who are not like themselves. We don't have many politicians today that we see as being that average American who we connect with - a person that truly speaks for us. Carl Sheeler is that average guy who speaks for the average American. Sheeler is an antiwar Democratic Candidate for U.S. Senator in Rhode Island. He is also a veteran of the United States Marine Corps who served in the first Gulf war. Sheeler ran in 2004 as an Independent, against a four-term Republican State Senator in 2004 garnering 41% of the district's vote even though he had entered the race late. Mr. Sheeler is one of the few politicians left who seems to have a grasp on what the American public truly wants. He cares what the average American thinks and he truly represents the ideals that he claims to stand for. He is a man of integrity, courage, commitment, and patriotism. Peace Takes Courage is proud to endorse Carl Sheeler for U.S. Senator. On September 12, vote for a candidate that truly represents us.

I was lucky enough to have an interview with the future Senator from Rhode Island. He took some time out of his day to answer a few questions for us.

1. Good work!
You should also take a look at Phil Dunkelbarger. He's challenging Stephen (I-never-met-a-war-I-didn't-like) Lynch in the Massachusetts 9th Congressional district.

2. Unfortunately
Most people in RI have never heard of Sheeler. For the first time I can vote in a primary -- I've always been registered as an independent and therefore couldn't vote in the primary without choosing an affiliation, which I wasn't willing to do. Now, I'm a registered Dem and he's got my vote.

In Charles Baskt's column in the Projo(rightwing rag) he talks about how Laffey and Chafee are fighting it out to see who will face Whitehouse. No mention of Sheeler and he acted as if it's a forgone conculsion that it will be Sheldon like there isn't even a democratic primary.

I've heard talk of dems going unaffiliated so they can vote in the republican primary and get laffey to beat chafee. The problem with that is the most likely of the dems to vote for Sheeler would be the ones to do this. Forget the republicans and vote in our own primary and vote for Sheeler. The actual number of votes it's going to take to be the nominee is going to be quite low. Figure the population of the state is right around 1,000,000. IN the 2004 dem presidential primary, a total of 35,000 people voted. Like I said, it won't take very many votes.

Laffey is such a tool. I can't stand the guy. If he wins the primary, there's no way he wins. He's made too many enemies and he is a total dick. Only the backwash 29% like the guy.

So maybe the people who are tyring to give him the repuke nom have a point. And if you don't need very many votes to get the dem nom, you need even fewer to get the repuke nom.

I'm telling everyone I know that I'm voting for Sheeler in the primary and here's why they should too. Most people have never heard of him. The really good news is that the primary isn't until September 12th and there's plenty of time to change that.

I'm telling everyone who will talk politics with me who I'm voting for and why.
