So does this mean the war on terror is over?
I mean they killed their "leader" for like the fifth or sixth time now, so does this mean that we can bring our troops home from Iraq? And can we can dissolve the DHS as the pork-filled-civil-rights-trampling-constitution-shredding-wholly-unnecessary-gestapo-government-thugs that they are? And that we can quit acting like an imperialistic power hungry rogue state that bombs and invades everyone that has resources that we want under the guise of "liberating them from the terra"? And that the voyeurs currently occupying the White House are going to quit wiretapping US citizens under the name of "national security"? And they are going to dismantle the massive database of websites that people like to visit? And that we can stop the sabre rattling in Iran?

Yeah, I didn't think so either.

My guess is that the fighting 123rd keyboard warriors over at freeperland are enjoying a massive fap session over this, while ignoring that all of the above just ain't going away though.

on edit: he'll get some praise very soon and it will tend to insulate him from illegal NSA spying allegations later.

3. Yeah, until people start realizing that...
...OBL is still alive and well, and that the taliban warlords have re-taken power in Afghanistan.

Or, maybe they won't realize any of it.

After yesterday's debacle of an election here in San Diego, I have zero-zip-zilch-nada confidence in the intelligence of the average American anymore.

6. I know. Most people outside of DU don't get the Irony of us being in Iraq.
...OBL is still alive, the taliban warlords have regained power in Afghanistan, and the Afghan farmers have switched to growing poppies and making heroin to support worldwide terrorist sleeper cells, but HEY. Ignore all that, we are in Iraq now and Afghanistan is sooooo September 12th 2001 :eyes:

"But", as Stuart Smally say's "that's OK." The freeps and neo-cons get to enjoy a massive fap session over this, puff out their chests and strut around like they are some big important men, call us all liberal whiners that want to see us fail, and ignore the irony that our very presence in Iraq is a failure on the war on terror.

8. Sure, as soon as you enlist to fight it.
Of course the Irony that us being in Iraq is a massive failure on the war on terror, is probably lost on someone of your obviously limited compression level.

I've started hundreds of threads, and the archives are littered with them about the war on terror, and what a joke it has become. But, no one cares. You know why? Because we are no longer the land of the free, OR the home of the brave that's why. We are now the land of the chicken shit scared ass little punks that refuse to stand on our two feet, and take back the country that was stolen from us by these corrupt sons of bitches in office. We have turned into a bunch of scared little children that talk a big tough game, but when the chips are down, we go running home to mommy with our little tails tucked between our legs.

You want proof of it? Look to yesterday's election here in San Diego in district 50. It completely reinforced to neo-cons and freepers alike that they will keep winning elections, and keep power no matter how blatantly corrupt they are, just as 2004 showed that they will win elections and keep power no matter how horribly incompetent they are, and no matter how many soldiers come home disfigured, mentally ill, or in body bags. Just keep the country filled with scared, complacent voters, which are way too easily manipulated, while using a cowed, lapdog, news media to keep distracting everyone with highly emotional wedge issues such as the fear that gay brown people are going to spill over the border and force us to sing the national anthem in Spanish, while burning the flag.

For over forty years these people have besmirched every effort us Liberals have put forth to advance ourselves as a culture, and as a nation. Even after gaining power in all three branches of the government, they continue to denigrate every legitimate criticism of their actions.

My god, it makes me ill to see the split that all of this has caused in the Democratic party.

You want change? We can start by acting like grownups, and take back the country that was once ours. Stop feeding the Military Industrial Complex with the bodies of our kids while China, India and South America keep ramping up their manufacturing capability to the point where we are rapidly approaching 2nd world status, and our jobs get outsourced across the globe. Start fighting for a change to this crony filled administration that keeps using manufactured crisis' and wedge issues just like this to keep us fighting amongst ourselves, while they profit madly from wars thousands of miles away. OPEN YOUR FUCKING EYES. THAT'S WHAT I WANT PEOPLE TO START DOING. Unfortunately, one would think that after the horror of Vietnam, the American people would not have been brainwashed so easily to march off to Iraq, and duplicate the exact same mistake. But, here we are, continuing to fight bloody and costly wars.

20. People in CA 50 don't want any change. How you ever been to
Ranch Santa Fe? If I was there I wouldn't want any changes either. That was Mrs. Mcdonald's or what ever her name was neighborhood. Things aren't going to change around here until the Chinese call in their loans, otherwise it's more of the same.

14. NO! It was over when we got Saddam! Oh, wait...
Maybe it was when we got that other really important #2 guy. Or, when we got those 24 #2 guys in Haditha.

Or, maybe, it's not over and won't be until we get our asses kicked again.

16. I can think of four possible outcomes.
1. Zarqawi wasn't killed and will continue to do whatever it was that he did, U.S. credibility further humiliated.

2. Zarqawi was killed, somebody claiming to be Zarqawi takes his place and does whatever it was that he did, U.S. credibility further humiliated.

3. Zarqawi was killed, martyred. Attacks on U.S. are further escalated.

4. Zarqawi either was imaginary or his importance was greatly exaggerated, things continue exactly as normal.

Either which way I see no reason to be happy over it, other than to help Bush's popularity. And only a sucker would do that.

17. nope
Bin Laden and his number two guy are still yet to be taken care of. Now, if the US can take them out, it will make a significant dent in al queda. but I don't think war on terror is a good term, it will never be over. It's like asking "Now that we got criminal X, is the war on crime over?" No, it is ongoing forever.
