actually arrived in country VN on the 12th, 16 months later came home a changed person. Sometimes I wonder if I ever made it back, sometimes.

That had to be gawd awful time to be there. Yup, glad your back and hopefully in better shape than many. You sound pretty "together" on this site to me. By the way, always wondered, were people really spitting on returning troops? I was against that war from the beginning but there was a draft, guys didn't have a choice of whether to go or not if they didn't have the right Daddy or Mom. Or was the spitting thing more govt. speak? If real it was pure stupidity on their part. The troops fighting now are fighting for another lie so we can only hope some Dems get elected to Congress so we can have a voice.

8. I wasn't spit on personally as I would probably still be in jail |
|
but us,we weren't treated with any respect, no high fives, attaboys or hugs, just stares and disbeliefs, little snide remarks that kind of thing. I still remember 'em, I guess to never forget. Damn the lies and the liars

17. The spitting thing didn't pop up till about 1991, and I figured it for a |
|
Bush campaign trick for the 92 election, like the pretend flag-burning was in the 88 campaign. They drew a bead on Clinton early on and knowing he protested the war, they could smear him early. But, then, the media hadn't completely turned into the PR Dept for the GOP at that point, so it didn't really get far.

I came home to join in the effort of adding fuel to the fire if you will. Vietnam was wrong then as Iraq is now.

13. Grandson's friend has father that was in VN |
|
His friend told him that there are times when his father will be aseep and crawling through their house, other times he will freak out from sounds and does not watch war movies or war news. I've met the boys father and you would not suspect he still has issues with his VN experience. VN & Iraq were and are truly sinful. We destroy people and countries for what? And to think the ones that wanted this war had managed to avoid doing their duty when they could have. Guess that's why there is this war, ignorance.
