Can we agree about this compromise on Gore? |
|
Can we settle for him being the head of the Environmental cabinet in '08?
Let's face it, anyone that went through the shit he did in '00 would also agree never, ever, ever to go through that again; he just seems more relieved not being in politics.

We cannot compromise on beards. Look at those who have worn beards throughout history: always, always people who would compromise our national security. Karl Marx. Charles Manson. Benedict Arnold. Al Gore. Trust the environment to a man with a beard? Never! Far better to trust our national treasures with Uncle Dick Cheney and his Halliburtonian friends.

3. He's DU's candidate du jour. |

It happens every so many months: you'll see one name plucked from the headlines and turned into president: endless threads about why this person will be president or why this person is the best candidate or theories about how this person will beat the Republican nominee, hands-down.
A couple or three months ago, it was Russ Feingold. About six months ago, it was Mark Warner. You just have to monitor the trends.
I happen to adore Al Gore, but, like you, I have my doubts that he is running. I also, should he run, have my doubts he would win considering many people view him as a loser (which, of course, isn't true, but try telling the average voter that).
There's no harm in this, just speculation. We, of course, won't know diddly for another couple of years, anyway.

After how disgusting the right treated Kerry in the last election I don't think Gore would choose to put himself (or his family for that matter) though that. But him as Head of the Envirionmental Cabinet... well, there would have to be a Democrat victory. And yes, I know that the way things are looking it's pretty much in the bag; unless some friggen GOP miracle happens in the next 2 years. But to be honest, I doubt that Gore would get the position. John McCain is better then some Democrats on the envirionment. And Arnold is possibly one of the best govenors on the envirionment. The Democratic party as a whole could use some improvment on their envirionmental stance.
However, when it comes to the envirionment I have huge respect for Gore. As a biology major (and in general a science buff) I just have this feeling about Gore. If someone walked up to a polotician after giving some speech about global warming (including one of those fringe contrarians)and asked "Considering the Giai hypothesis/theroy and the hypothetical 'Daiseyworld' how would global warming fit in?" I think Gore would be most likely to understand the question.

6. I still think he's the best presidential candidate . . . |
|
we could nominate in 2008 . . .
an environmental slot wouldn't take full advantage of his wisdom and experience . . .
which we deperately need . . . desperately! . . .

I've wanted Gore to run for Pres. for a long time. Was heartbroken he didn't run in 04 and won't give up hope for 08. When he says that he will definitely not run, then I will abandon that hope. Not before.
Not all Gore fans are fair-weather fans, lot's of long-time supporters here and in the real world too. Many people I talk to feel as I do.
