Bush noncommittal on troop drawdown

CAMP DAVID, Md. - President Bush said Friday it was unclear when Iraqi security forces could take control and let U.S. troops go home.

Bush declined to embrace the goal set by the new prime minister for Iraqi forces to take responsibility for security throughout the country within 18 months.

"I've told the American people I'd like to get our troops out as soon as possible," Bush said. "But the definition of 'as soon as possible' is depending upon victory in Iraq. And victory in Iraq is a country that can sustain itself, govern itself and defend itself."

"I'm thrilled that Zarqawi was brought to justice," he said, squinting in the bright sunshine.

"Zarqawi's death helps a lot," Bush said. "It's a big deal, but it's certainly not the end of conflict."

1. Well since there will be no victory until there are three civilians and
our hand-picked government left in the entire country, I'd say we have a way to go.

3. Permanent bases are being illegally built, that's why
Can't find the thread but apparently some Bush puppets in the House illegally removed restrictions on permanent bases from the money bill recently.

7. Force that draft-dodging
arm chair warrior's daughters to enlist, and ship their useless Paris Hiltonique asses off to Iraq, and we'll see just how fast he'll bring the troops home. Matter of fact, send one useless spoiled brat to Iraq and the other equally useless spoiled brat to Afghanistan, and you'd see ALL the troops being sent home faster than you can say "I'm the Decider!"

Hell, during Vietnam, even Johnson's son-in-law served in combat. Big surprise you can't find the children of the government bigwigs serving now.

8. Is this a difficult question for Democrats?
How about responding with the truth? Say this to Republicans:

"I'll tell you when the troops will start coming home. The troops will start coming home one or two months BEFORE Election2006. Don't believe me?...then wait and see. The Republcians need this boost and they will play this SHAMEFUL, MANIPULATIVE, Rove STRATEGY until Election Day."

You KNOW this is what Bush is planning to do. Democrats must reply with this prediction and NEVER STOP. Let's get IN FRONT of the issue, not trip and stumble behind it.

9. Sorry, man- but the troops aren't even coming home before election '08.
We're spending money up the yin-yang to build permanent bases in Iraq. Who's gonna man 'em? Iraqis?

As the great sage Fred Willard put it, "I Don't Think Sooooo!"

10. Not ALL the troops...
...I think Bush will start withdrawing a SMALL amount to make the point with his Republican base. He will use that to give the IMPRESSION that some progress is being made. Doing this on a small scale would quiet his critics.....and would be done BEFORE the Election.

AFTER the Election....I think he will again increase the troops. Scam complete.

The Bush regime is NOT going to give up easily. They will do what it takes to stay in power.
