Bilderberg 2006
Any guesses as to what was on the fat cat agenda this year?

For those of you not familiar with The Bilderberg Group:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bilderberg_Group

Partial guest list:

The 2006 group includes David Rockefeller, Henry Kissinger, Queen Beatrix of Holland, New York Gov. George Pataki, the heads of Coca-Cola, Credit Suisse, the Royal Bank of Canada, cabinet ministers from Spain, Greece and a number of media moguls, including Globe and Mail newspaper publisher Philip Crawley. However, Bilderberg followers say that media moguls whose outlets report leaked details from the meetings will see themselves banned in the future.,

The group also includes a pair of prominent figures involved in planning the U.S. invasion of Iraq — Richard Perle and Ahmad Chalabi. Fellow White House power-players Donald Rumsfeld and Paul Wolfowitz, now head of the World Bank, have spoken to the group in the past.

But Bilderberg is not exclusively a right-wing body, by any means. Bill Clinton's right-hand-man Vernon Jordan, was also in attendance Thursday, as was his Mideast negotiator Dennis Ross.

The prime ministers of Britain and Canada — Tony Blair and Stephen Harper — have addressed the group before, as have former Liberal prime ministers Pierre Trudeau, Paul Martin and Jean Chrétien.

Mr. Harper spoke to Bilderberg in Versailles, France, in 2003 but his office said he would not attend this year's conference.

Canada remains well represented, however.

The Canadian contingent at this year's event also includes Power Corp. boss Paul Desmarais, Indigo books CEO Heather Reisman, and former New Brunswick premier Frank McKenna.

4. Rich powerful people meeting in secret.
Yes, I'm sure their intentions are benign.

12. I believe this year's focus is how to make
your slice of the pie as thin as possible.

5. Mr. Harper spoke to Bilderberg in Versailles, France, in 2003....
but his office said he won't be attending this year's conference. So let's see. Steven Harper attends a Bilderburg conference in 2003 in France and then he is elected PM. But he isn't going to attend this year even though it's being hosted in Canada. BS!

6. Just heard that they're meeting in Ottawa this weeken & was Googling info.
I had never heard the name before and was surprised to read the attendee's, past and present, included John Kerry, John Edwards, etc: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Bilderberg_attendees

Maybe someone here wouldn't mind telling me how they are different and how they are the same as PNAC. They sound sort of similar but I'm still trying to gather info in between doing home stuff. (TIA)

7. PNAC includes a relatively small number of people
The Bilderberg group is much more international in scope and far larger. Their plans are subject to speculation, but they hold incredible influence, evidenced by the impressive list of attendees and members. They seem intent on keeping ordinary people out of their meetings, which worries me.

In a free, open society, such organizations full of powerful, wealthy individuals that don't allow the people to watch are organizations that should not be trusted by the people.

9. Thank you. It does seem a bit like "parents" deciding what's right for
the "children" when the "children" are actually mature adults and should be allowed some input over their own lives. Some of them may mean well but I'd feel a lot better if a few at least semi-"average" folks were included and had input and the minutes were made public. As it stands currently it smacks of elitism with the "rest of us" not being quite good enough.

10. "not exclusively a right-wing body"
Some leftists/critics of the RW and the global corporate agenda who definitely won't be invited at a Bilderberg gathering:

Hugo Chavez, Amy Goodman (Democracy Now), Naomi Klein (The Nation), Joseph Stiglitz (former Chief Economist at World Bank), Noam Chomsky.

Past and present Bilderberg invitees are exclusively individuals who help promote large corporate interests.
Those who belong to that group and who are painted as "not right-wing" are at best centrists.

11. Governor Mark Warner attended Bilderberg in 2005.
Bilderberg hunkered down here May 5-8 to decide how the world should deal with European-American relations, the Middle East powder keg, the Iraq war, the global economy and potential war in Iran. The first appearance of Virginia Gov. Mark Warner (D) indicates Bilderberg considers him a presidential contender.

The absence of former Sen. John Edwards (N.C.), John Kerry’s presidential running mate in 2004, indicates the Sun has set on his political career. Last year was Edwards’s first appearance and, like most of the “fringe” invitees, he has been cast aside like an old shoe.
