Rove Indictment. Who else had a "I'll believe it when I see it" attitude?
People can go off on Jason Leopold and TO as much as they'd like. I for one, wasn't going to believe that fat miserable fuck was getting indicted until I saw it - it didn't happen, so I'm not exactly surprised. Is anybody?????

1. I'm either more surprised than disappointed or more disappointed than
surprised, not sure which.

But definitely both by degree.

I thought Rove would be indicted for sure.

4. I always doubted it, & assumed he'd be pardoned if he was indicted.
None of these sons of bitches will do time or be punished.

5. A Rove trial might happen - statement of Joe Wilson's lawyer below
http://www.rawstory.com/news/2006/Statement_from_Joseph_Wilson_husband_of_0613.html

Statement of Christopher Wolf, Proskauer Rose LLP, Counsel for Ambassador Joseph Wilson and Valerie Plame Wilson

"We have become aware of the communication between Mr. Fitzgerald and Mr. Luskin concerning Karl. Rove's status in the criminal investigation. We have no first-hand knowledge of the reason for the communication or what further developments in the criminal investigation it may signal. While it appears that Mr. Rove will not be called to answer in criminal court for his participation in the wrongful disclosure of Valerie Wilson's classified employment status at the CIA in retaliation against Joe Wilson for questioning the rationale for war in Iraq, that obviously does not end the matter. The day still may come when Mr. Rove and others are called to account in a court of law for their attacks on the Wilsons."

7. I don't think Wilson's lawyer was talking about a Rove indictment
Edited on Tue Jun-13-06 10:54 AM by Jersey Devil
When he said, "The day still may come when Mr. Rove and others are called to account in a court of law", I think he meant he will have to publicly testify about what he did. I think he was telling us that Rove had turned.

You're saying that Rove is cooperating with the prosecutors to save himself?

12. Sounds to me like a civil suit brought by the Wilsons may be in the future
This could be a very good thing, too. The rules are different for civil suits. The Wilson's could go after Bush, Cheney, Rove, Libby, the whole lot of them. The precedent has been set with Clinton.

23. Yup
Edited on Tue Jun-13-06 11:51 AM by wryter2000
My feeling is that Wilson was waiting to see what would happen with the criminal suit and if it looks as if Rove's going to get away with it, he'll bring a civil suit. Lord knows he and his family sustained enough damage at the hands of the White House to sue. I'll bet he could subpena Cheney, and the way they went after Clinton opens up the possibility of Cheney being forced to testify.

Won't it be a good laugh to watch them explain why the decision about Clinton doesn't apply to them? "But Clinton lied about sex. This is national security. It's different...waaaaah."

I long ago gave up any semblance of hope or expectation that there will be any significant loss of Republican power. There is too much money and power protecting these guys.

10. The *only* thing I find disturbing about all of this...
My Dad called me to tell me of the so-called indictment.

He doesn't read D.U.
He is not an activist.
He learned of it through some channel he trusted to announce such things.

He was very excited and he has been let down. I feel somewhat responsible due
to the fact I didn't buy it right away.

18. Really?
Could you be just a teensy bit more specific about "some channel". Just curious whether it's a personal political or news sources, or just some other internet source he reads that may have inadvertently picked up the Leopold story.

13. Too cynical to 'believe' in justice anymore.
There is some kind of system in place (bribery, intimidation, etc.) that is going to enable the Bush administration to get away with most, if not all of their crimes. I do have hope that some day, this cabal will be exposed as the treasonous criminals they are, but hell, that could be 20 years from now. I still harbor a little hope that it will be much sooner.

14. I did.
In fact, I posted about it the night of the "revelation" Said I would run naked down my street, shouting hosannas at the top of my lungs and smearing myself with grape jelly, if it came to pass in the affirmative.

Oh well...I can always eat the grape jelly. Wish I didn't buy it in the convenient 55 gallon kit size...

16. AWW hell here is my theory
it is as good as anyones I guess. The week TO came out with the Rove has been indicted story I think something big was going on...Tweety expected to be working late that same week..he was expected some News on Rove for some reason...but it never happend...something went down that week I really believe this.

I think Fritz told Rove give it up or your going down. This would explain the delay in hearing anything ..Fritz having to make sure Roves info is good it would also explain why we have not seen the document that says Rove is off the hook ..because it could have a little note in there about as long as he keeps to his end of deal.

anyway just a some guessing and hopping. The one thing I feel sure about is the week TO had the Rove is indicted story something was going down maybe not what they thought but something.

17. That attitude goes for everything
Most don't know the real shape of the drug war, of media consolidation, of any number of things that we should know. It's not just with the truthout thing but it's pervasive through our lives, if someone doesn't have a stake in telling us about something we just aren't going to hear it. What we do hear has more to do with someones agenda than with what's going on in the world or what we deserve or need to know.

If we want to fix that we need ownership rules in the media to reduce the built in conflicts of interest we have now.

Edited on Tue Jun-13-06 11:54 AM by cryingshame
Fitzgerald is going after whomever he needs to.

That's the main point. And Rove is far from exonerated at this point.

Suppose Rove gets called to testify?
