God's Army of 6-Year-Olds

http://www.truthdig.com/avbooth/item/20060612_gods_army_jesus_camp/

A prize-winning documentary called “Jesus Camp” chronicles the experiences of children as young as 6 who attend a summer camp to become the next Billy Graham. Truly sickening scene from the trailer: An adult pastor thunders at the children: “Had it been in the Old Testament, Harry Potter would have been put to death.... Warlocks are enemies of God.”

# Synopsis of the film

American Prospect:

Gandhi once said if Christians lived according to their faith, there would be no Hindus left in India. He knew how powerful the fundamental tenets of Christianity—fighting poverty, caring for the least among us, loving your enemies, eschewing materialism and embracing humility—could be if everyone who called themselves a Christian truly followed them.

The new documentary, Jesus Camp, which chronicles a North Dakota summer camp where kids as young as 6 are taught to become dedicated Christian soldiers in “God’s army,” is an illustration of this sentiment in the extreme.

The film, by Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady, the duo who also directed the critically-acclaimed The Boys of Baraka, opened to an appreciative and flabbergasted audience at the 2006 TriBeca Film Festival, where it received the Special Jury Award. The directors skillfully captured the daily interactions of a world that would be foreign to most viewers: children speaking in tongues and talking of being “born again” at age 5.

1. I don't think
Jesus had this in mind when he said "suffer the little children", it is totally disgusting.

2. WOW
My daughter would be in tears over that woman's hateful speech that she spit out. Just wow.

Why is it that fundies can never tell the difference between fact and fiction? Is that one of the reasons they are so easily led by this administration?

Maybe I just answered my own question.

3. I used to work at a Christian Camp
We were not like that, and if we would have said something like that to a child, we would have been fired on teh spot, and that has happened. Jesus loved everyone, esp. those who were "out of touch" with religion and those who might have rejected it. He did not like the preachy types.

4. Paraphrasing here...
...'cause I'm too lazy today to even open up my interactive Bible.
Who was it who said something to the effect of: "Beware he who stands on a street corner and prays out loud"?
That: "The Lord your God knows those things you desire"?
That the only prayer we needed to recite (quietly) was: "Our Father, Who art in heaven..."
