Looks like it will be Jim Webb vs. George Allen for VA Senate |
|
Edited on Tue Jun-13-06 07:52 PM by DancingBear
This is for the best, I think.
Webb has the best shot against Allen, but Allen is loaded for bear money-wise.
This one will be a very interesting race, because I think Kerry and Clark are going to be stumping really hard for Webb.
Let's see how that plays on the military bases in the southern part of the state.

1. Webb is the strongest candidate we could put up against Allen |
|
This could be the race which either makes or breaks the chance of the Democrats winning back the US Senate.

15. I agree, this is one of the most important Senate races |
|
Jim Webb was one of the good Republicans twenty years ago. Now he's a Democrat. That's a good message.
I'd like to see Allen as presidential candidate whether he wins another Senate term or not, just because he's so obviously unpalatable to anyone but wingnuts.

5. I think Webb can beat Allen. |
|
That would pretty much take him out of the 2008 Republican Presidential nomination, too, I think.

Yet another faux good-old-boy silverspoon psychopath on a presidential ticket would be too depressing to bear.

In the last 30 years the only Democratic Presidents have been Governors of Southern states. this is reality. anything else is fantasy.

I would definately be greatful to pick up another seat. I do find it very ironic though that everyone here rants and raves about the DLC and DINO's... yet these same people end up supporting a Republican who switched parties over a handful of issues as compared to his opponent, a classic liberal, Miller. Doesn't matter to me I just want the senate back. I just think it's funny that people here rant about these moderates and so called DINO's and they often times save the party.

I read states that he is pro-gay, affirmative action, pro-choice, supports progressive taxation, environmentalist ect. Yeah he supports free trade but so do almost all of the other Dems in the senate. As did Clinton, Carter and I believe even McGovern has come out in support of it. I don't really agree with it but can you say someone isn't a Democrat based on one issue?? I had read a few posts here stating that he was fairly progressive for a southern state.
