We DUers deserve it.

At times we disagree with each other - vehemently. But we all do (or should) recognize that our disagreements are not a reason to disband, but to celebrate. Our democracy was founded on disagreement, and debate between citizens of differing views is the embodiment of what democracy is all about.

At times we get personal in our attacks of each other, but we are always intelligent enough (after the smoke clears) to recognize when we have gone too far, and are willing to apologize for having crossed the line.

At times we get discouraged with the way things are, but we are always open to listening intently to those who remind us of how things CAN be, if we do not lose sight of our goals.

At times we forget (but only momentarily) that we are family, that we are in a place where we are safe, and free to think out loud.

DU is like a little corner of the American Dream. It is our right to enjoy our time here living that dream, and our obligation to remind our fellow citizens, and the world, that THAT dream will endure.
