Another disappointing report from NPR's Morning Edition
I couldn't take notes because I was driving, but they ran a story today at about 8:40 ET in which Linda Wertheimer took several direct and undisguised shots at Democrats while simultaneously pumping up Republicans in general and Dubya in particular. Mara Liasson was her usual, Fox-News-Whore ineffectual self, to the point that you could almost hear her blank stare over the radio, and she certainly didn't bother to have anything reassuring to say about Democrats, nor did she point out that Dubya's numbers, even if they've risen to 38% are still in the toilet.

You can listen to the story here, if you have the stomach for it, but here's the overview:

Point One: Good week for the Whitehouse, with rising poll numbers, Zarqawi's assassination, and Rove dodging the bullet

Point Two: Democrats can't seem to unite on Iraq or anything else

Point Three: A Rove quote: "If Democrats had their way, Zarqawi would still be alive." (Parenthetically, this is a close echo of the previous Rove bullshit a la "if Dems had their way, Saddam would still be on the loose." But Wertheimer thought it was worth giving Rove a direct quote with no rebuttal.

Point Four: Mention that Hilary Clinton is the front-runner for the Dem 2008 nomination (without any discussion of whether or not that's true, or according to whom), taking special care to point out that she was recently booed by those un-united Liberals when she repeated her "no withdrawal date" position, while John Kerry was cheered for flagellating his own tangled views re: Iraq

Point Five: No one knows what winter of 07 will hold for Dems or Repubs, so there's no way to predict how Iraq will affect the next presidential election

Point Six: Mention once again that Democrats don't have a unifying message

Did I miss anything?

2. "Democrats don't have a unifying message" is a real problem per polls
The rest is garbage - IMHO

:-)

3. Some of the reporting is naked partisan BS and some is just lazy.
NPR has in the last few years increased the levels of both bias and laziness in their reporting.

4. Mostly Laziness
Or they would have noted that Iowa went for Edwards. Only Neocons are pushing the daughter of a John Bircher (she was a rightwinger before she married Bill) as "the front runner."

5. I've said this many times...
but we all need to call them on it (or e-mail!). It's time we all got in the habit of firing off an e-mail to every media outlet we encounter that presents clearly biased info and let them know how we feel.
I know it's a drop in the bucket...but if we all keep doing it, eventually someone may pay attention.

In the case of NPR, make sure you tell them that you'll no longer contribute if they continue their partisan reporting.

6. Translation: "Oh please, Repub. Congress. Approve our funding"...
"We're old and our salaries at NPR are now stratospheric. Oh Please..."

7. Here is our unifying message to the Republicans

And if the Democrats had their way, Zarqawi would of never been a threat in the first place.. We could of saved many lives.

And speaking of Rove. He should of never been in the position of being investigated by the court. He was obviously involved in the leaking of information, whether classified or not. This would not be the first time either that he has been under the microscope..
